Sweet should be served and honoured at the end. I could not find reference from Srila Prabhupada. But the vaishnava etiquette mentionss this.
This is how prasadam is served to sannyasis in mayapur, and in festival feasts at Gaudiya math.
    The order is
    1. Bitter preparations
    2. Spinach/ green leafy preparations and astringent items
    3. Fried preparations and dal
    4. Spicy vegetables/items
    5. Sour items
    6. Sweet items.

The same sequence of serving and honouring is given in Bhoga arati written by Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur. Bhoga arati describes how Krsna and Gopas honor sumptuous bhoga offered by the gopis.

    Serving and Honoring Prasad
I like this idea very much. Our chanting is the medicine and our prasadam is the diet for curing material disease. &#1...
  • Hare Krishna,
As far as I know we honor the sweet prasadam first of all. Even if it is hot prasadam or sweet prasadam. The moment prasadam comes into hand we respect it and partake it.
We don't consume it in the end like a dessert. Prasadam Is to be taken first before taking any meal be it hot or sweet.

    Order of Foods:
Hari Bhakti Vilasa mentions that one should start by eating a little sweet food, then take salty and sour items, and then pungent and bitter items. Liquid foods should be taken at the beginning and end of the meal and solid foods should be taken in the middle. This system is still followed in South India. In Bengal the custom is to take bitter foods first and end with sweet. Different styles of cooking require that the foods be eaten in different order.
