    it depends on Krishna when u will have atmosphere to have a good kc practice. Till then accept everything as krishna's mercy and continue doing it.

  • I meant impressing your boss
  • Dear asker

    Please remember that this is kali yuga. Most people will be irreligious. Don't pay attention to your boss.

    If your boss has divine qualities as stated in Bhahwad Geeta he will be a good boss.

    Don't waste your time in pressing your boss. Instead, do your share of work and chant His holy name.

    Hare Krsna,

    Dandavats Pranam, AGSTP.

    I have struggled a lot myself with this difficult topic of work for many years. As it is the case for many tricky topics or fields of study, the answers are found in the Bhagavad Gita and other scriptures such as Srimad Bhagavatam.

    I will tell you what I consider are the best recommendations for dealing with the situation. What other devotees also suggested must be taken into consideration because every situation is different according to karmic laws.

    B.G Chapter 9 Text 27

    yat karoñi yad açnäsi
    yaj juhoñi dadäsi yat
    yat tapasyasi kaunteya
    tat kuruñva mad-arpaëam

    "O son of Kunti, all that you do, all that you eat, all that you offer and give away, as well as all austerities that you may perform, should be done as an offering unto Me." So try your best to offer work every day to Krsna at beginning of day for example, and dont worry about results a lot. At first results will affect your thinking but slowly but surely, fear of failing will leave you. It takes practice of course.

    Another recommendation is to control your senses, a topic which HDG Srila Prabhupada used to refer a a lot during his lectures. It is very important to control your tongue and to avoid offending your boss and colleagues even if they are unjust or unfair with you. Keep trying to improve the quality of your work and tolerate insults or harsh words.

    While doing this, you must also give up "enviousness". Yes, incredible or not, you must not be envious of position of your boss or colleagues. Constantly think that this a temporary situation but also be compassionate towards boss and colleagues in long term. You will realise they are also slaves of their desires and work, even if they appear to be "better off" than you at first.

    In the past, I read words of HDG about chanting at work place or thinking of Lord Krsna and thought it was unpractical and impossible. But I have realised that if loud chanting is not practical and difficult, often mental japa is possible and keeps you in better mode of goodness or Krsna consciousness.

    Mind can think of Krsna fast and still after that concentrate on work to be done.

    I don't know if you realised but the conclusion is that you must endeavour to improve on all sides, chanting, eating, concentration, sincerity, tolerance, especially be nice to everyone and keep enthusiasm.

    This will make things easier because you can concentrate better, collaborate better and get peace of mind.

    Haribol,

    • Yes it is very important to control your tongue and to avoid offending your boss. However, my boss is totally stressing me out. My boss is constantly asking me to work on my days off from work. I am being made to feel that I am not a "good worker" because I refuse to work 7 days a week. How dare I want to take some days off from work and visit the Temple twice a month??? I also wanted to go to Gator football Harinama today but didn't because this " non-stop work stress" is making me "physically ill" now.

  • Please forget about trying to please your boss. I don't think it is possible in today's world. Just go to work and do the very best you can each day. That's all  you can do. I work at a "hellish" job and they are constantly calling me on my days off telling me to come into work. However, I am grateful to have a full-time  job and so am able to give donations from time to time. If I didn't have "this hellish job" I wouldn't be able to do so. So actually Lord Krishna is the CEO at my job. If he wants me to stay at this job he will do so. If not, then he will make arrangements for me to find a different job elsewhere.

  • Oneday i will join in krsna's company by the mercy of devotees.please bless me this oneday will come soon.

    Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

    First thing is PLEASE STOP TRYING TO SATISFY YOUR boss :( Prabhu!

    Our real Boss if Krishna. He is the Root! If we water the root the whole tree will grow nicely.

    So while DOING OUR DUTIES WE HAVE TO THINK OF KRISHNA - CHANT HIS NAMES ON OUR MIND;

    REMEMBER HIS FORM;

    REMEMBER HIS QUALITIES;

    And do our duties for His pleasure.

    If suppose i am a student, i have to study all subjects well because in this way i will please Krishna;

    If suppose i am a teacher, i have to be honest and try my best so that student learn things as good as possible;

    I have to get prepared to the lessons well, all materials, equipments, be on time, do not waste time ....

    Enthuse the student to learn the subject;

    So in that way by being a perfect teacher i will please Krishna.

    You are working on construction, that is nice! Your mind is free from intense thinking so You can use it for chanting;

    If one is a teacher one's mind is also busy most times, so it is difficult to chant but if one is doing job mostly with physical senses then it is a blessing - one can CHANT, HEAR LECTURES, PRAY - TALK WITH KRISHNA, isn't it?!

    :)

    No karmi person will be fully satisfied.

    But if we satisfy the Lord in the heart of everyone then we BECOME DEAR TO EVERYONE AND EVERYONE BECOMES DEAR TO US.

    That is the secret of pleasing Krishna.

    If no physical association with Devotees then, please associate on line, like this here You are doing;

    Hear lectures;

    Read books;

    and WRITE TO KRISHNA PRAYERS;

    Writing prayers especially in my life helped me so much. Krishna responds; every night we can make a habit of reading Srimad Bhagavatam and then write prayers to Krishna on our diary. Open our heart, glorify Him; tell all our problems we are facing in life; and pray for His mercy, help.

    And pray for Him to give us chance to be WITH HIS SINCERE DEVOTEES.

    Good luck Prabhu in Your life now with new visions! (i hope :)

    Your servant,

    • thank you for your valuable solution....Harekrsna

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

    Welcome to the struggle. Please do not expect everyone to be Krsna Conscious, especially the boss. There is no need to discuss spirituality with the boss until you reach a certain comfort level. Better to do your devotion quietly until you reach a level where others are forced to listen to you or to follow you or you elevate spiritually to a level where it doesnt bother you what thinks what about you.

    Who can get association of devotees daily or in the workplace? Absolutely nobody, unless if you are working in or for the temple. That will have its own issues. So until then, let us be realistic - we go to work so taht we can get the money to follow our passions (in our case spiritual aspirations). Therefore do not try to 'enjoy' the work. The way to get association is to regularly listen to lectures, read Gita and Bhagawatam, chant your rounds, do aratis and eat only prasadam.

    If your boss is not happy with you and you leave the job, my experience is that the next boss will be worse. Then what will you do? Better to try to adjust where you are - if the boss is not liking what you am doing, then better to find out why and what he doesnt like and try to mould yourself/ hone your skills such that you gain acceptability.

    To progress in devotional path, you dont need to change your job. Job is material, nothing to do with devotional path unless your job itself is detrimental (whihc is not hte case with you since you are an engineer).

    My advice to you is to quietly follow 4 and chant 16. Incorporate this in your daily life. Lie through your teeth if you have to - tell ppl you cannot eat out due to health reasons, eat only home cooked food, you are averse to non-veg and onion garlic. You dont smoke or drink for health reasons - you had a lot of health issues as a child, you learnt your lessons the hard way - who is there to go and check? Regarding chanting, I even chant on excel to complete my rounds if I cannot do at home or while travelling. Its important to complete the rounds everyday - somedays maybe without proper concentration, but still Krsna sees your endeavour and sincere effort to complete your rounds. He then makes the environment conducive to you so taht you can chant uninterrupted. Get sms or whatsapp msg on KC and read - who is there to check what you are reading.

    I think it is pertinent to note here that even if you have a devotee boss, in the workplace he will expect you to deliver.

    I hope I have not been too harsh with you and have been able to explain to you.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
