I do not know what your age is, but at some point of time you will realize that we cannot control the actions of other people. We can only control actions of our own. There will be people who will be cause dsturbance to us. We have to rise above such distrubances to a higher level by taking schelter of Krishna. Sri Krsna tells the same to Arjuna in Bhagavad Gita.
Yes what he has responded is not appropriate. But we shouldn't be discouraged by it.
