Garuda Purana explains about all kinds of punishments given to us after death depending upon our deeds performed in our life span, before the next birth.

So there is a conflict if the size of the spirit is smaller than the atom, then how it is possible to give these kind of punishments? like roasting in hot oil tank by Yama dhootas.

If the soul is so small and cannot feel the pain, how can it be tortured?

When a person dies he leave his gross body then the senses are also lost. How then he can be feeling pain in the hell?

Which part of the soul is the memories of part karmas stored? It is the mind? or intellect or false ego?

One should be convinced that he is a spirit soul, part and parcel of the Supreme Brahman, Kṛṣṇa, but has somehow or other been entrapped by the material coverings of the gross and subtle bodies, consisting of earth, water, fire, air, ether, mind, intelligence and false ego.

Soul is separate from all its coverings.

gross material body + subtle material body + soul ( atma)+ Supersoul

outmost covering is the gross material body made up of earth, water, fire, air, ether.

Subtle material body is the is also made up of material things only.. like mind, intelligence and fasle ego.

Subtle material body has subtle body or sookshma shareer which has all the senses ( eyes, nose, ears, touch feel sensory organs) exactly like a gross body.

That is the reason when we say.. a ghost has no gross body.

BG 1.41, Purport: Sometimes the forefathers may be suffering from various types of sinful reactions, and sometimes some of them cannot even acquire a gross material body and are forced to remain in subtle bodies as ghosts.

SB 3.31.41, Purport We should always remember, as it is stated in Bhagavad-gītā, that both the gross and subtle material bodies are dresses; they are the shirt and coat of the living entity. To be either a woman or a man only involves one's bodily dress. The soul in nature is actually the marginal energy of the Supreme Lord.

So, Soul has to detach itself from both gross material body and subtle material body.

    SB 4.29.6, Purport

Because of his desire to enjoy the material world, the living entity is dressed with the material gross and subtle bodies. Thus he is given a chance to enjoy the senses. The senses are therefore the instruments for enjoying the material world; consequently the senses have been described as friends. Sometimes, because of too much sinful activity, the living entity does not get a material gross body, but hovers on the subtle platform. This is called ghostly life. Because of his not possessing a gross body, he creates a great deal of trouble in his subtle body. Thus the presence of a ghost is horrible for those who are living in the gross body. As stated in Bhagavad-gītā (15.10)

    SB 3.27.28-29, Purport:

The words liṅgād vinirgame, which are used here, mean "after being freed from the two kinds of material bodies, subtle and gross." The subtle body is made of mind, intelligence, false ego and contaminated consciousness, and the gross body is made of five elements—earth, water, fire, air and ether. When one is transferred to the spiritual world, he gives up both the subtle and gross bodies of this material world. He enters the spiritual sky in his pure, spiritual body and is stationed in one of the spiritual planets.
IF ONE IS FREE FROM GROSS MATERIAL BODY AS WELL AS SUBTLE MATERIAL BODY HE CAN ENTER SPRITUAL SKY  WITH  HIS PURE SPIRITUAL BODY.

    SB 11.11.14, Translation:

A person is considered to be completely liberated from the gross and subtle material bodies when all the functions of his vital energy, senses, mind and intelligence are performed without material desire. Such a person, although situated within the body, is not entangled.

Such a soul is called jivan mukt.

    SB 7.2.47, Purport:

The living entity is bound by the subtle body, consisting of the mind, intelligence and false ego. At the time of death, therefore, the position of the mind becomes the cause for the next body. As confirmed in Bhagavad-gītā (8.6), yaṁ yaṁ vāpi smaran bhāvaṁ tyajaty ante kalevaram: at the time of death the mind sets the criteria for the spirit soul's being carried to another type of body. If a living being resists the dictation of the mind and engages the mind in the loving service of the Lord, the mind cannot degrade him. The duty of all human beings, therefore, is to keep the mind always engaged at the lotus feet of the Lord (sa vai manaḥ kṛṣṇa-padāravindayoḥ (SB 9.4.18)).

AT THE TIME OF DEATH THE LIVING ENTITY ( SOUL ) LOSES GROSS BODY BUT IF CANNOT DETACH ITSELF FROM THE SUBTLE BODY ( MIND , INTELLECT AND FALSE EGO). "the position of the MIND becomes the cause for the next body." ==>"the at the time of death the mind sets the criteria for the spirit soul's being carried to another type of body".

MIND BECOMES THE CAUSE OF NEXT BIRTH<<< please note.

    Krsna Book 87:

It is clearly stated in the Gītā that the Lord gives intelligence to the individual soul and that both memory and forgetfulness are due to the influence of the Supersoul. No one can act independently of the sanction of the Supersoul. The individual soul acts according to his past karma, reminded by the Lord. The nature of the individual soul is forgetfulness, but the presence of the Lord within the heart reminds him of what he wanted to do in his past life.

LORD REMINDS THE INDIVIDUAL SOUL WHAT HE WANTED TO DO IN THE PAST LIFE. < please note it.

Memory, remembrance and forgetfulness is given by Lord.< please note.

past karmas memory is given by supersoul..who is witness to ur every action. He keeps record of all ur activities.

GROSS BODY is lost. when a person dies.

Subtle material body has mind, intelligence and false ego. << this is also made up of matter.

BG chapter 2 TEXT 23:==The soul can never be cut into pieces by any weapon, nor can he be burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind.

SOUL cannot feel any pain..cannot be cut to pieces. So it alone cannot go to hell to suffer punishments. IT SHOULD HAVE A SOOKSHMA SHAREERA.

MIND is the repository of past experiences. <<<IS BEING SAID.

Watch at 3:39 to 3:48 ==>> subtle body and gross both body both are temporary and made of material is being said.

subtle body is the medium thru which the living entity ( SOUL) interacts with the gross body and world outside << is being  said...

Sublte body just like gross body has sense they are subtle senses. << is being told. PLEASE NOTE.

senses=horses, mind= reins, intellect=charioteer and soul = passenger suffer or enjoyer.

Soul suffers for the things done by senses and mind.

In the vid. it is being told.. SOUL CONTROLS THE body by directing CHARIOTEER ( INTELLECT)  SUBTLE BODY Which inturn controls the MIND ( REINS) AND HORSES ( SENSES).

SOUL CANNOT SUFFER PAIN it is NOT made up of any material things.. Not Becoz it is small in size.

SOUL ALONG WITH SOOKSHMA SHAREER can only suffer pain. These two combination ( SOUL AND THE SOOKSHMA SHARER )only goes to the Hell or heaven to suffer/enjoy the results.

    Hare Krsna

Garuda Purana states punishments after death. Is it for the soul that is so smaller than atom?

    No.

So there is a conflict if the size of the spirit is smaller than the atom, then how it is possible to give these kind of punishments? like roasting in hot oil tank by Yama dhootas.

    What conflict ? please elaborate

If the soul is so small and cannot feel the pain, how can it be tortured?

How was it inferred it cannot feel pain ? The torture is perceived just as it would be perceived by a person who is tortured while living.

When a person dies he leave his gross body then the senses are also lost. How then he can be feeling pain in the hell?

Pain is experienced due to subtle body

Which part of the soul is the memories of part karmas stored? It is the mind? or intellect or false ego?

None. Mind intellect or false ego are not part of soul.
