We all try to listen to our wives and please them as much as we can.

Mataji's dont want prabhus to perform Harinam on a daily basis. They much prefer their husbands staying home after work and serve her. or do whatever we are going to do outside, do it at home. Unfortunately Harinam Sankirtan cannot be done at home.

Matajis enjoy mostly worshiping the form of Krishna, and feet of Krishna. They prefer prabhu's to also be like them.

We have a duty to obey spiritual master's orders to perform Sankirtana.

Matajis, tell us why you dont encourage your husband to do Sankirtana everyday (at best) or why you drag your husband down from being a part of Harinam everyday (at worst)

What is the best solution you suggest that will be pleasing to you, at the same time, we get encouragement to perform nagar Sankirtana or not be draged down from performing Sankirtana?

Prabhu's If you are performing Sankirtana every day or regularly, what has worked for you?

(This discussion is only about how to get out there performing Sankirtana. This is not meant to offend anyone. This is a hard fact we just need to deal with otherwise the seed of Sankirtana tree within will not grow. If you are single/never married before, you can be a spectator and watch the show, the workings of Maya)

      Pranam.

Do not generalize things. It's not about mataji's. It's something else, don't know what?

You talk about United states. Here in Bangalore itself, I have been kept on asking in the temple since a year, when is the nagar sankirtan going to happen, and I haven't got any answer yet.

Once it was scheduled to happen and it got cancelled a day before.

I am desperately waiting for such occasion and expecting my 6 yr old kid to accompany me.

So no excuses, if one wants to do something for Krishna, just do it.

      Jai shree Krishna

  • Hare Krishna Prabhuji,

Dandavats. You have pointed out that mostly all mathaji's are what you have mentioned above but if you deeply analyse you will come to know that most of which of what you have mentioned are not true. There are many vaishnavis who do nagar sankirtan even today....a true vaishnavi will support the prabhu and not oppose if what he does is correct acc. to guru-sadhu-sastra.

That is the biggest excuse I get, why Prabhus dont want to go for Nagar Sankirtana.

"Mataji doesnt want me to do Sankirtana, I need to be with the kids and take care of them after coming home from work"

It is possible that where I live, in the Unites States Matajis dont believe in Nagar Sankirtana. I don't Know.

Yes you are right. Meera is one of them. She is one of the greatest devotees who even have ascended to Goloka with their own human body. She always used to sing Krishna's Names where ever she went.

    From Harinama Cintamani:

"There are two types of bad association,

the first being association with women

The proper Vaisnava behavior is to avoid asatsanga or bad

company that influences a person to disrespect a sadhu.  Bad

association is of two kinds. The first is association with a

woman, which means either to have illicit connection with a woman

other than one's wife, or to be excessively fond of one's own

wife.  The scriptures permit a husband only a properly regulated

relationship with his spouse.  Keeping company with a licentious

or henpecked man also falls within this first category of asat sanga

    or bad association."

    Bhagavatam Chapter5,

83-86. Falsehood, vain boldness, craftiness, stupidity, impatience, over-greediness, impurity, and harshness are the natural qualities of women....

It is real important, if a man wants to succeed in going back to Godhead, man must keep control of the family as head of household. This is also in the best interest of your wife and children.
