Demigod Worship

Hare Krishna,

In Srimad Bhagvad Gita it is said that men of smaller knowledge wowrship the demisgods and go to the planets to demigods after death. It is also said that people worship demigods for fruits of karmas which are temporary in nature. My question is that I practice Karma Yoga and Bhakti Yoga but my financial and family stress is so high that I also worship Lord Hanuman(Hanuman Chalisa) for quick fruits. Is it OK to do it?

  • Actually you cant ask krishna directly for anything as we not pure devotees He wont give anything. Its like demi-god worship they give in-directly (only usually material benefits). Asking Krishna directly you will never acheieve anything.. you have to go through His pure devotee (then you will feel a lot of shame in asking for anything material trust me. I never ask my Guru majaraja for blessings in mateial things I feel totally ashamed. Thats the pure process. Of course if you ask demi-god for spiritual benefits to lead you to Krishna that is also different.

    Hare Krsna

Yes. But asking Krishna for material benefits/relief  is higher than asking demigods for the same.

A lot of practicing devotees who are in sadhana stage are doing mixed devitional service, knowingly or unknowlingly - Devotional service that is mixed with karma and gyana.

Sri Krishna doesn't condemn Karma, Gyana or Astanga Yoga in Bhagavad Gita. He mentions that they are not the highest or they do not provide permanent relief or benefit. or they are not easy.

But what we need to understand is that whatever benefits/ relief we get from Karma or Gyana or upasana (demigod worship) is actually provided by Krsna but indirectly.

Krishna can also provide all those directly to us. Example - Krishna gave a planetary system to Dhruva, Krishna gave lot of wealth to Sudhama. Lord Rama helped Sugriva become King. Lord Vishnu as Mohini gave amruta to demigods. So even demigods go to Krishna for their material benefits/ relief. So why not us.

But again , asking material  things from Krishna is lower that not asking anything but selflessly serving Krishna. So please understand the hierachy of this and pray that today I am not selflessly serving, but someday please empower me to serve selflessly.

    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Krsna is greater than all our problems put together.

We can of course pray to Hanuman ji, with the bhaav that you are a vaishnava, please make me also a vaishnava like you.

We should not think he isGod or we shoudl not ask anything from him. If there is need and you have to ask something, ask only from Krsna.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
