usually we offer fire because fire give energy to the eyes helping them to purify and improve the vision.
in this way we offer it to the Deities for Their pleasure.
The second reason is fire is attractive. And when one holds fire he is mentioned even from far distance. In this way offering fire we are praying to Krishna to glance over us and shower His mercy on us.
"Please, look at me also my Lord! Please help me!!..."
In the office is best thing is if Your good wife prepares sweets and You offer it to Your office stuff. Or even invite them to Your home and feed them nicely with Prasadam.
Lord Chaitanya loves when we share this fruit of Mango with others. If we distribute more He will give more for more distribution. And that Mango fruits represents devotion to Krishna by chanting His Holy Names and calling out for His mercy. In other words to make people to chant the Holy Names and get real knowledge from the books of Srila Prabhupada.

Also take extra vows like visiting the temple, doing parikrama, Dipa Daan(A Must), Mangal aarti, Bhagwatam reading, extra round chanting. In this month we lord DAMODAR(Child Krishna) is worshipped and brings pure devotion in devotees. It is said lord Krishna in his childhood avatar did lila in which he was completely dependent on his devotees like Mother Yasoda.
