Respected Administrators of IDT,

Thank you, for allowing me to join IDT. I want to know something. I started doing Ekadashi fast on every Ekadashi from October 2020, but on 8th October 2021, my mother died. Since then for a month I could not keep Ekadashi fasting. Now, again on 15th November 2021, there is Ekadashi. Can I keep this fast or do I need to wait for a year to start my fasting?

Thanking you,

Deblina

  • Hare Krishna mata ji,

I am sorry for you loss. You can keep vrats its not a harm to do ekadashi fasting. In fact you can do ekadashi fasting and offer the fal ( fruits) of ekadashi fasting you did for you mother mentally. She would be immensely benefitted. She can even go back to godhead.

    Hare Krishna.

My condolences for your mother. Observation of Ekadashi need not be stopped due to an event of death
