I am chanting 16 rounds a day before work. The child I take care of is now going to a school full of children who are developmentally delayed(mentally retarded). It seems to me that some of these poor children are definately being haunted by ghosts. How can I prevent one of those ghosts from coming after me and jumping into my body? Thanks.

I heard from devotees that ghost can haunt one who is
BTW, mentally retarded people need not be haunted by ghosts. Its only because of their past karma they had to under go such a punishment in this life.
Hare Krishna Thanks Prabhus for your comments. Maral Alim, What country are you from? I don't usually drool when I sleep but I noticed that some of the elderly patients at the nursing home did have problems with drooling.
I think I am safe from ghosts as long as I keep on chanting. I only bathe once a day. I think I better start taking 2 showers a day.

There is no doubt that the one who chants the Holy Names is safer than anyone else in whole creation.
And one who does kindness is stronger than that who does bad to others.
and sometimes in order to protect Your house from them You may do Kirtans at Your house. Even if You are alone or with some relatives or friends.
at this time i am in India, and do not know where will be in the future :-)
But days past and we got registration and Devotees build Temple room upstairs. But the underground rooms were for matajis. It says that ghosts mostly in a strength in those areas.
one day i was sleeping and saw one of them, i wanted to move my body, but my moving senses were as like dead. with my mind i could see, but could not do anything in order to protect myself.
then i started to chant the Holy Names. Chanted needing for help. Soon everything was ok, i woke up.
It was really horrible situation. But the Holy Names have such a power that can protect us in any situation.
From that day i did not risk anymore to sleep or even to enter there.

Dangers are there in every second. who knows, i heard about people who died even from one drop of water. We everyday use cars and other vehicles, and it is very easy to get car crash and our body destroys into pieces.
So many dangers.
Because of that we have to try to chant the Holy Names 24 hours a day as possible.

Here something from Srima Bhagavatam. Please read it carefully:

The ghosts and hobgoblins took possession of the body thrown off in the form of yawning by Brahma, the creator of the living entities. This is also known as the sleep which causes drooling. The hobgoblins and ghosts attack men who are impure, and their attack is spoken of as insanity.
PURPORT
The disease of insanity or being haunted by ghosts takes place in an unclean state of existence. Here it is clearly stated that when a man is fast asleep and saliva flows from his mouth and he remains unclean, ghosts then take advantage of his unclean state and haunt his body. In other words, those who drool while sleeping are considered unclean and are subject to be haunted by ghosts or to, go insane.

TRANSLATION
Because the sky is transformed, the air is generated with the quality of touch, and by previous succession the air is also full of sound and the basic principles of duration of life: sense perception, mental power and bodily strength. When the air is transformed in course of time and nature's course, fire is generated, taking shape with the sense of touch and sound. Since fire is also transformed, there is a manifestation of water, full of juice and taste. As previously, it also has form and touch and is also full of sound. And water, being transformed from all variegatedness on earth, appears odorous and, as previously, becomes qualitatively full of juice, touch, sound and form respectively.
PURPORT
The whole process of creation is an act of gradual evolution and development from one element to another, reaching up to the variegatedness of the earth as so many trees, plants, mountains, rivers, reptiles, birds, animals and varieties of human beings. The quality of sense perception is also evolutionary, namely generated from sound, then
touch, and from touch to form. Taste and odor are also generated along with the gradual development of sky, air, fire, water and earth. They are all mutually the cause and effect of one another, but the original cause is the Lord Himself in plenary portion, as Maha-Visnu lying in the causal water of the mahat-tattva. As such, Lord Krsna is described in the
Brahma-samhita as the cause of all causes, and this is confirmed in the Bhagavad-gita (10.8) as follows:
aham sarvasya prabhavo
mattah sarvam pravartate
iti matva bhajante mam
budha bhava-samanvitah
The qualities of sense perception are fully represented in the earth, and they are manifested in other elements to a lesser extent. In the sky there is sound only, whereas in the air there are sound and touch. In the fire there are sound, touch and shape, and in the water there is taste also, along with the other perceptions, namely sound, touch and shape. In the earth, however, there are all the above-mentioned qualities with an extra development of odor also. Therefore on the earth there is a full display of variegatedness of life, which is originally started with the
basic principle of air. Diseases of the body take place due to derangement of air within the earthly body of the living beings. Mental diseases result from special derangement of the air within the body, and as such, yogic exercise is especially beneficial to keep the air in order so that diseases of the body become almost nil by such exercises. When
they are properly done the duration of life also increases, and one can have control over death also by such practices. A perfect yogi can have command over death and quit the body at the right moment, when he is competent to transfer himself to a suitable planet. The bhakti-yogi, however, surpasses all the yogis because, by dint of his devotional
service, he is promoted to the region beyond the material sky and is placed in one of the planets in the spiritual sky by the supreme will of the Lord, the controller of everything.

so from here may know that mental disease causes not only from ghosts but from the wrongly movement of the air in the body.
Srila Prabhupada told that cleanliness is our strength. Yes, in western countries we may think that we are living clean life, everyday bath, super cleaning powders (tide, ariel...) super cleaning soaps...yes, they some how clean the dirt which is visible to our eyes but there are subtle dirts also.
