Srila Prabhupada told that his students are not so expert in 1977 which was true for that time. But we should make a rule out of it. Because so may years past and now in ISKCON there are so many great saints no matter from western country or India, but they are there. So we have to be careful while making some statements.
And i do not think that those who read only Bhagavatam and do not read other literature are less intelligent i mean with lesser knowledge. On the contrary this knowledge is already there in soul. One thing is needed is the purification. Srila Prabhupada says that if one whole day worships Deity at the Temple is equal that he is learning all Vedas whole day.

i am not saying that we should not study but as it was said before first we read all the books of Srila Prabhupada and after forming our intelligence we can read other books.
Please, forgive me again and again. I really do not have desire to hurt You just shared with my own thought which i understood from reading and hearing others.

It is very very nice that You are interested in reading such like books and learning them. It means You value knowledge.
But as i know and heard these Shrimad Bhagavatam and Bhagavad Gita are the essence of all puranas, vedas, other shastras. And for our fortune we can get them easily nowadays. If i were You i would read first them then read other books let them be Vedas or Puranas.
Because we do not know when we will die. It might be today or tomorrow. Or within a moment. As like happened with me few days back. I just was crossing the road with my bead bags on my hand and with plucked ears. Before crossing the road i was sure that there were no cars but as i was crossing from somewhere appeared moto cycle and in a big speed was rushing towards me. I was shocked. I tried to walk forward but the driver also out shock changed his way then i tried to stop and move back he also did the same. In this way moto reached just just to hit me that time i did only a quick step back and moto cycle could pass away without hitting me. It was so fearful. And that time i almost lost hope for life....
In this way we do not know when we will leave this body. Better to be more careful and take Krishna Consciousness as an emergency, isn't it?!
Read Bhagavatam as like Parikshit Maharaja heard. He fasted, did not slept...
