Today is Srila Jagannatha dasa Babaji Maharaja’s disappearance day. He comes in the Gaudiya Vaishnava disciplic succession after Srila Visvanatha Cakravarti Thakura and Srila Baladeva Vidyabhusana. He was a renounced ascetic, fully engaged in chanting the holy names of Krishna and meditating on His pastimes. For some time, he made his residence at Surya-kunda in Vraja-dhama, near the temple of Suryadeva, where Srimati Radharani used to come and worship the sun-god—or, I should say, where She us

Why Are In People Taking Forex Trading Classes?

This is indeed an excellent question. You see, by doing some research online you will find out that, Forex trading is most certainly considered to be one of the most successful careers a person could have. At the same time, however you will see that, there are so many Forex traders out there but, most of them will insist that they learned how to do this on their own. They did not have any training and they did not take any classes.

Lord Shiva – Myth or Master?

Being in charge of the mode of ignorance, Lord Shiva is also the master of false ego in all living entities and as such, it is Lord Shiva by whose mercy one can finally get relieved from the clutches of false ego and achieve permanent shelter at the lotus feet of Lord Sri Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

I was alarmed to read a text wherein the author described, in his own way, the significance of Lord Shiva’s different attributes like the snake around his neck, the trident, the d

Pious activities by Kadamba Kanana Swami

2515175562?profile=original

Caitanya Caritamrta gives the three categories of pious activities. There is karma unmukhi sukriti, moksha unmukhi sukriti and bhakti unmukhi sukriti. Sukriti means spiritual benefit. Karma unmukhi sukriti gives benefit on the realm of karma which gives you good material results. So if you do pious activities – let’s say you make a shelter for people or you give to the poor – these kind of things are pious and they give you good karma and in the next life it comes back. It is said that if you g

This weekend’s London Saturday night harinama sankirtan coincided with the 74th anniversary of George Harrison’s appearance day (birthday).
The weather was wet so there were fewer people out and about, but still many members of the public did stop to watch or join in.
Actually, one of the things that had endeared the devotees to the
Beatles was that they went out on the streets of London no matter what the weather.

Srila Prabhupada and the children.

2515175077?profile=original

“I may inform you that all our children born of the Krishna conscious parents, they are welcome and I want hundreds of children like that. Because in future we expect to change the face of the whole world, because child is the father of man.”

(Srila Prabhupada Letter, August 21, 1968)
“So take care of these children. If you can make one child Krishna conscious, it is a great service. Krishna will be very pleased. So, so many children will come.”

(Srila Prabhupada Lecture, New Vrindaban, June 22

Srila Rupa Goswami, one of our great spiritual masters from before (500 years ago), he listed out 64 devotional activities and of those 64 he said the last 5 are particularly important. The last 5 say:

Kurma das: Bhakti V. Madhava Swami wrote me yesterday, concerned that kalonji seeds, also known as onion seeds, were inappropriate for those, like himself, who do not partake of onions and garlic. He is not alone in his confusion in terminology.
I replied:
Kalonji seeds (Nigella sativa) (pictured below) are not seeds of the onion plant. There is no connection. It is a colloquial term only, because they look like onion seeds.
They are also sometimes called black cumin, but this is also a mistake

Discourse at NY Sanctuary on: What’s the higher consciousness? How to awaken that Consciousness?

By Radhanath Swami

Life is a journey. A quest of fulfillment, for seeking pleasure. Some people find that pleasure in wealth, in glory, or other material comforts of life. But for ages, people have taken an inner journey – to fulfill this quest.

(Maharaja asks permission from the audience to quote a story) He was in the Himalayas couple of months back. He was sitting

My Conversation With Krsna.by Mahatma das

2515174842?profile=original

Mahatma das: I called up Krsna the other day because I was having a really hard time. There were so many things going wrong and I couldn’t understand why. So I said, “Krsna, you love me, right? “And feelingly He said, “Of course. I love you unconditionally.” So I questioned how you can love someone and at the same time make their life difficult.” “Oh yes,” Krsna said, “It’s quite possible.” And explained how.
“You know when you are sitting in a chair and after a while you become uncomfortable?”

Doubts cloud market surge.

2515174695?profile=original

Vaisesika das: Yesterday the front-page headline of The San Mateo Times read: “Doubts cloud market surge.”
The simple facts behind this headline are that hopeful economic news stimulated a weeklong stock market rally.
But yesterday, as traders got mixed economic reports, they pulled back, stopped buying, and the trading surge stalled.
The reason according to the Times: doubts.
When doubts cloud one’s mind or heart, a feeling of uncertainty or lack of conviction creeps in and the result is that

No Ugly Gopis, Please!

2515175463?profile=original

Srila Prabhupada: I don’t know who has given you this idea of shaving your head and wearing white garments. In India only the widows are allowed to shave their head. I have never suggested to your husband to take sannyasa. We can discuss this matter further when we shall meet again in London for Ratha-yatra. You remain the beautiful maidservant of Krishna. That is your business, and you should dress yourself always very nicely so that by seeing you Krishna will be pleased. Don’t try to be ugly

Loving exchanges by Kadamba Kanana Swami

2515174602?profile=original

Tamal Krsna Maharaj used to keep this picture in his house in Vrindavan. Prabhupada is so blissful in this picture that Tamal Krsna Maharaj was taken aback by the power of that happiness. Devotional service is susukham kartum avyayam (Bhagavad-gita 9.2), is joyfully performed. And then the rain of flowers showered by the devotees is a symptom of love and respect. That loving exchange is the basis of Lord Caitanya’s sankirtan movement. Prabhupada gave so many wonderful gifts of devotional servic
