Importance of Gurudeva

Importance of Gurudeva

If a devotee is doing a great deal of chanting, reading and glorifying Sri Krsna, but he is not following his gurudeva, what will be the result? It will be zero. This has been described in many places in sastra. Krsna
Himself has said in the Srimad-Bhagavatam (11.19.21): “madbhakta-pujabhyadhika – the worship of My devotees is better than worship of Me.” He also says, “That person who says he is My devotee but who is not devoted to My devotee, is not My devotee at all.” Krsn

Is pure enjoyment possible or impossible in this material world? Is the struggle for survival compulsory?

He does not construct a big house.

He does not construct a big house.

Bhagavad-gita 12.13

TRANSLATION

A devotee who is not dependant on the ordinary course of activities, who is pure, expert, without cares, free from all pains, and who does not strive for some result, is very dear to Me.

PURPORT

Money may be offered to a devotee, but he should not struggle to acquire it. If automatically, by the grace of the Supreme, money comes to him, he is not agītāted. Naturally a devotee takes bath at least twice in a day and rises early in the

Satan's philosophy

Satan's philosophy

To be nonviolent to human beings and to be a killer or enemy of the poor animals is Satan's philosophy. In this age there is enmity toward poor animals, and therefore the poor creatures are always anxious. The reaction of the poor animals is being forced on human society, and therefore there is always the strain of cold or hot war between men, individually, collectively or nationally. At the time of Maharaja Yudhisthira, there were no different nations, although there were diff

Benefits of prasadam

Manihara took the opportunity to clear up the answer to a question he had about the specific benefit someone gets when they take prasadam.

Prabhupada told him that by eating one is getting mercy. "Eating nobody will refuse. So by eating he is being favored by Krsna. This is the process. You understand Bengali? Krsna bado doyamoy, He's very merciful. Koribare jihva jay. We are accustomed to eat, go to the restaurant, go to the hotel, go to here and there, at home and so on. Sim

BABY WRESTLERS

BABY WRESTLERS
Taken from the book "The butter thief"

Sometimes, the cows would come into the cowherd town of Nandagrama, and stand waiting. Then Krishna and Baladeva used to go out, and lie down on the ground beneath them, and the cows udders would spontaneously pour milk into Their mouths. The cows would think, “If only Krishna were my son! Then I could give Him my milk, and show love and affection for Krishna.“ This mood was everywhere in Vraja.

Krishna and Baladeva grew up, and when They were

The Personality of Godhead said:

Under the supervision of the Supreme Lord and according to the result of his work, the living entity, the soul, is made to enter into the womb of a woman through the particle

of male semen to assume a particular type of body.

On the first night, the sperm and ovum mix, and on the fifth night the mixture ferments into a bubble. On the tenth night it develops into a

In talking with friends about God, they struggle to understand when I refer to God as He. They believe that because everything comes from God then He must be a She also. They also find itextremely hard to refer to God as He due to past negative experiences growingup as Christians. They feel that referring to God as He does not liberate themas females. I'm not sure how to handle their objections.mso-fareast-font-family:"Times New Rom

Need of Human Society

Need of Human Society
We must know the present need of human society. And what is that need? Human society is no longer bounded by geographical limits to particular countries or communities. Human society is broader than in the Middle Ages, and the world tendency is toward one state or one human society. The ideals of spiritual communism, according to Srimad-Bhagavatam, are based more or less on the oneness of the entire human society, nay, of the entire energy of living beings. The need is felt

The sex pleasure enjoyed in their association.

In the rainy season, when the rivers swell and rush to the ocean, and as the wind blows the waves about, the ocean appears to be agitated. Similarly, if a person engaged in the mystic yoga process is not very advanced in spiritual life, he can be affected by the modes of nature and thus will be agitated by the sex impulse.

A person fixed in spiritual knowledge will not be attracted by the allurement of material nature in the form of beautiful women a

Early days

Gargamuni grinned and said that although his father smoked, he told him not to smoke and I said that my father did the same thing.

Prabhupada chuckled, hypothetically paraphrasing our parents: "'When you are older, you become a debauch -- but don't become now!' If it is a good thing, why older and younger?"

He said that such a reaction was natural. "These things are not good. They know it, but they are habituated. But they do not like that son should be habituated."

He turned to Gargamuni

The Supreme Lord has infused His transcendental name with all of His potencies and offered it to humanity. One who has sufficient faith in Lord Krsna's name is eligible to chant, and only one who chants the name is properly executing the prescribed duties of the human being. He is called an adhikari or possessor of the holy name.

The holy name is so potent that chanting does not depend on conditions of time, place, rules, cleanliness, and so on. Pious activities, such as the giving of charity, th
