How to Find Permanent Bliss?

Question:  How to Find Permanent Bliss?

Hare Krishna, Maharaja,

Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

Day in and day out, I am trying very hard to become an ardent student of Krishna consciousness, but I always end up overwhelmed by miseries stemming from my work, people, corporate politics, mood swings, and other emotional disturbances.

I am feeling very sick and tired of these day to day nuances. In my office everyone is playing so much politics and mind games, and t

Chanting Rhyme

lord%252Bcaitanya%252Bbeads.jpg
There is a rhyme that I invented for my son to encourage him to concentrate while chanting Japa. It's very simple, but underlines two important points....hearing and pronounciation.
Chant the words so you can hear,
the Maha mantra loud and clear
In spiritual life, simple concepts are very important and these simple aspects of chanting are very important for our progress in Japa.

Devotees at New Vraja Dhama, a sustainable ISKCON farm community in Hungary also known as Krishna Valley, are set to plant 6.5 hectares of trees—an incredible 50,000 Acacias, Oaks, and Willows—on their property at the end of this March.

But the effort is just a fraction of a much bigger project that has been underway since the community’s inception in 1993.

“This will bring the amount of trees we’ve planted since starting our 660-acre farm to 54 hectares—or 133 acres,” says Radha Krishna Dasa, wh

Lord Chaitanya declared in relation to Madhavendra Puri, that one cannot understand the true essence of spiritual perfection by austerities, by meditation, even by studying all of the scriptures scrutinizingly because there are so many ways to interpret anything within this world, the real path of perfection is to follow in the footstep

Bhagavad-Gita 7.28 - 8.6

Death is nothing but sleeping for seven months. That’s all. Sleeping for seven months, that is called death. Just like, in the operation table, one becomes unconscious for one hour, half an hour. Then he comes to his consciousness. Again he comes to the same point. So similarly, death is nothing but to remain practically unconscious for seven months. That’s all. This body is left, and we enter into a particular womb of mother, and just to develop another body it takes about seven months. Then, a

Ignorance is no excuse

At present everyone is suffering due to ignorance, just as one contracts a disease out of ignorance. If one does not know hygienic principles, he will not know what will contaminate him. Therefore due to ignorance there is infection, and we suffer from disease. A criminal may say, "I did not know the law," but he will not be excused if he commits a crime. Ignorance is no excuse. Similarly, a child, not knowing that fire will burn, will touch the fire. The fire does not think, "This is a child, a

Serve Krsna with rapt attention

One should become an unalloyed devotee of the Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna, and serve Him with rapt attention.

Prabhupada: Yes. (laughter) [break] ...a small garden like this, that is called a hanging garden.
Tamala Krsna: Yes, we can walk there in the mornings.
Prabhupada: Hm.
Bharadvaja: Srila Prabhupada, chanting Hare Krsna is considered to be the watering process, and sometimes from chanting, the weeds, from watering, the weeds also grow along with devotional service -- the weeds of differe

Prabhupada:

[Bg. 2.23]

"The soul can never be cut into pieces by any weapon, nor can he be burned by fire, nor moistened by water, nor withered by the wind."

So here is another puzzle for the rascal scientists -- because they are contemplating that except within this earth, in other planets, there is no life. Because the atmosphere is different, they cannot live there. Now, take f

Early Devotees

Twenty-year-old Janne Wesley, a film actress from Melbourne, had recently co-starred with Mick Jagger of the Rolling Stones in Ned Kelly, the story of Australia's most notorious bushranger. Now she was pursuing her film and television acting career in Sydney. One day, as she returned from work to her apartment in Kings Cross, she saw Bali-mardana, Upendra and Bill chanting at the El Alamein Park.

Janne: At first I thought they looked a little strange. Were they Buddhists? But I reco

Visit to Australia

Saturday, 8 May 1971- Kuala Lumpur

The devotees were amazed to discover that Srila Prabhupada had no visa to visit Australia.

Amogha: All that needed to be done was that the Indian embassy had to give some stamp of permission, and the Australian consulate had to issue a visa. Prabhupada was due to fly out that night. But it was Saturday morning, and all the embassies were closed. It was very hectic. Finally, Gopal dasa went to the homes of the right persons and convinced them to

Some men would fall

One day Chris was shocked to find Tirthapada packing his bags, ready to leave the temple. Despite his best attempts, Chris could not convince Tirthapada to stay. What was the problem? Tirthapada explained how he had stopped chanting, and, troubled by sex desire, had decided to live outside the temple, but he still planned to attend temple functions. Tirthapada left, promising to attend the temple regularly. He visited, just once. "You forget," he said.

Chris remembered Upendra'

First visit to Australia

Sunday, 9 May 1971

For the residents of the Sydney temple, Srila Prabhupada's arrival was a confused affair. An early telegram detailed Srila Prabhupada's proposed visit to Sydney, via Malaysia. Only arrival dates and times needed to be confirmed.

As it turned out, Srila Prabhupada had arrived in Malaysia a little later than planned, and to make things even more complicated, while in Kuala Lumpur there had been talk about a couple of devotees in Singapore wanting Srila Prab
