Myth is the imaginative fiction of the minds of the ancient natives of a country who believed that there were some kind of nature gods who were involved in the creation, maintenance and destruction of the world, and in some way they also influenced the social life of the people. Thus, they formulated imaginative stories about them and started worshipping them in their own style by offering sacrifices of such animals which they themselves used to eat.

There are thousands of mythologies. Every coun

Sanskrit: The Mother of All Languages - Part I

The one which is introduced or produced in its perfect form is called Sanskrit. The word Sanskrit is formed from “sam + krit” where (sam) prefix means (samyak) ‘entirely’ or ‘wholly’ or ‘perfectly,’ and krit means ‘done.’ Sanskrit was first introduced by Brahma to the Sages of the celestial abodes and it is still the language of the celestial abode, so it is also called the Dev Vani. The Mahabharat war (3139 BC) had shattered the economy and abolished many localized civilizations of India. There were thousands of kings and millions of people who died in that war. That much loss of population in those days was a big thing, and, as a consequence of the war, big patches of uninhabited land lay stretched across the subcontinent. There were no common roads in those days to join two distant states of India, and thus, the communication between them was bleak. In that situation, the

Aim of creation.

Radha Krishn - The eternal, loving personal form of GodThe aim of creation is to give a chance to all the souls to become human beings and then to realize God Who is absolute Bliss. They can realize God by doing absolute good actions and surrendering to Him. Souls are unlimited in number and are in an infinitesimal ‘life’ form, having a subtle mind of their own. When they receive human body during the creation they do good or bad actions according to the discrimination of their own mind. The record of these actions, called the sanska

HISTORICITY OF MAHABHARATA WAR

HISTORICITY OF MAHABHARATA WAR

In January 2001, Indian History Congress was holding its Annual Conference at the Alipur Campus of the University of Calcutta and at the concluding session of the said Conference the Nobel Laureate economist Dr. Amartya Sen, while addressing the delegates, said that Ramayana and Mahabharata do not have any historical value. These two epics are simply mythology and nothing but poets’ fancy. He also said that neither Rama nor Krishna was a historical personality and b

Have we become complaining machines?

• I am not able to properly chant my rounds and even complete my rounds because I don’t get sufficient time.
• My job is too tough. Practicing devotional life is too difficult for me.
• If only my spouse would have been more cooperative I would have practiced Krishna consciousness very sincerely.
• I don’t have sufficient money. I need to earn more to properly maintain my family. After I have accumulated sufficient wealth then I will sincerely absorb myself in Krishna’s service.
• I don’t have

My Dear Dr. Bigelow:

Please accept my greetings. Recently I have read an article in the Gazette by Rae Corelli entitled "Heart Surgeon Wants to Know What a Soul Is," and it was very interesting. Your comments show great insight, and so I thought to write you on this matter. Perhaps you may know that I am the founder-acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness. I have several temples in Canada Montreal,

Searching for the Place of No Anxiety . .

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

Atheist-existentialist Jean-Paul Sartre writes that because man wants to be God but cannot, he is a "useless passion" in a universe that has no purpose and thus, he is always in anxiety. "That is foolishness," says His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. "You are not God but God's servant…. Sartre believes the universe has no purpose because he is blind. He has no power to see that there is a plan. We are

The Human Rights Crusade

Freedom of thought, of religion, of assembly; freedom of speech; freedom of the press; freedom of movement both within and outside one's own country; freedom to take part in government: these are basic human rights that we Americans freely exercise and perhaps even take for granted. But oppressive governments throughout the world are presently denying their citizens even

The Things Christ Had to Keep Secret

Hare Krsna

Please accept my humble obeisance. All glories to Srila Prabhupada

What does God's abode look like? What does God Himself look like? "I have yet many things to say unto you," Christ told a world, filled with crudeness and ignorance, "but ye cannot bear them now" (John 16:12). The son of a Baptist minister now looks to ancient India's Vedic literature for the facts about God that Christ left unsaid.

Srila Prabhupada

Srila Prabhupada: Jesus Christ said, "Thou shall not kill." So why is it that the Christian people are engaged in animal killing?

Cardinal Danielou: Certainly in Christianity it is forbidden to kill, but we believe that there is a difference between the life of a human bei

Some planning, anticipating, and looking forward to future events and accomplishments are an important and necessary part of success. You need to know where you’d like to go in order to get there.

However, most of us take this planning far too seriously and engage in futuristic thinking far too often. We sacrifice the actual moments of life in exchange for moments that exist only in our imaginations. An imagined future
