Leaders from Hindu organizations worldwide participated in the festivities held on the 183-acre BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham property, named for its founding Hindu spiritual organization.

I’ve been staying in the Swami Room at the Towaco ISKCON temple since Tuesday night and accomplishing a few things. The room hosts a sizeable desk and adorning the wall set against that desk is a framed image of Krishna on a boat lovingly spending time with the gopis (milk maidens). While one of the gopis steers, the others are playing instruments – a drum and tamboura. It is indeed a window to the spiritual world as is inspiring.

It is almost the perfect weather, just a notch above 70° Fahrenheit. Boy, I left that non-metric calculation behind years ago when Canada switched to metric. Here I am in the USA, and as the saying goes, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” Okay, but I prefer using kilometres when it comes to measuring distance. For today it was six kilometres on foot. On Sunday 8/14/2022 Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra was celebrated at Oak Tree Road, in Edison, New Jersey as part of the India Independence Day Parade.

Every 2nd Sunday of August, the India Independence Day parade is held on Oak Tree Road, Edison. A huge chariot was assembled nicely by Akhilananda Das ACBSP.

The first Annual Parsippany, New Jersey, Rathayatra festival was held this summer on July 11th, 2021.

The bright-faced, colorfully dressed devotees, numbering over 1500, sang, danced, and joyfully pulled the beautifully decorated chariot of Lord Jagannatha, Baladeva, and Subhadra Devi starting at the Vrajdham temple and ending at the construction site of the brand new Grand ISKCON Parsippany Temple, where the parade ending with a thunderous kirtan.

ISKCON is in the process of constructing a grand Hare Krishna Temple in the city of Parsippany, New Jersey, USA.
