Process of Dying

Q: What happens, in what sequence, when the soul leaves the human body?

A: There's no one exact way for all. How and when a person will leave his body and where he will go depends mainly on his guna and karma (joined with interventions by others through blessings, prayers, rites, etc.)

From accounts of dying persons and hospital staff coupled with the sastric descriptions (mainly Vedanta sutra, BG, Puranas) these things happen:

Several days/hours before death the person enters the terminal phase. O

Remembering - Hladini Devi Mataji

Sunday, October 3, is the anniversary of the day on which Hladini devi dasi was brutally gunned down by an extra-judicial firing squad in war-torn Liberia in western Africa. The death squad arrived at the Hare Krishna temple in the capital city of Monrovia in the early morning hours, and ordered the devotees to come out. Seven devotees, five men and two women, exited the temple and filed into the waiting jeep. They were driven a short distance to the Sturton Bridge, where the devotees were forc

Vrindavan Kartika Parikrama and Festival

Sri Sri Krishna Balaram Mandir Kartika Parikrama Schedule

Now that Janmastami and Radhastami Festivals have finished, thoughts turn
towards Kartika. The Puranas glorify the month of Kartika as very special for
making spiritual advancement, and the best place to be in Kartika is Sri Braja
Dham. In fact this month is known as Damodar since in the middle of this month,
the Lord performed His very enchanting Damodar Lila. Kartika month also
represents Radharani, and devotees perform special austerities to

ISKCON Guyana last weekend celebrated the 25th Anniversary of their first installed Deities, Sri Sri Nitai Chaitanya Chandra, on September 11th and 12th at the Gaura Nitai Ashirvad Mandir, Crane Village, located two miles west of the capital city of Georgetown. The occasion was marked with a Ratha-yatra parade down the main public road, from Pouderoyen Village to the Hare Krishna Temple at Crane Old Road—through the thoroughfare that on every other day of the year is reserved for traffic and bus

A Hare Krishna temple in Leicester was evacuated seconds before an explosion almost destroyed the building, according to fire crews.

A religious celebration was being held at the property in Thoresby Street when one of the occupants went to disconnect a gas cylinder being used for cooking.

Leicestershire Fire Service said the man noticed the valve was leaking and got everyone out with moments to spare.

It was a "miracle" no-one was killed, watch manager Bill Smith said.

Save Yourself

In 1966 Srila Prabhupada told his followers, "Always remember that this Krsna consciousness is a sort of declaration of war with this illusory material nature. So there is war. She will always try to get you to fall down. It is very strong, powerful. How you can save yourself?" This is an issue we all need to resolve, and here's an approach you may find helpful.

Whether you are riding a wave of success in your devotional service or you are overwhelmed with life's challenges, please seriousl

Yamaraj is the demigod who records all of our pious and evil deeds. The servants of Yamaraj approached him and complained about something they were very concerned about. Here is the conversation between Yamaraj and his Yamaduta servants.

Yamaduta 1: How are you Prabhuji?

Yamaraj: I am doing well. But you look a little tense.

Yamaduta 1: Yeah Prabhu. We are little held with few matters.

Yamaraj: Oh. Let me know your issues.

Yamaduta 1: I am worried about this hell.

Yamaraj: Why? What ha

Ghosts Versus Hare Krsna!

This is a true story that took place near Rome,
in March 2009

As soon as we entered the apartment we understood we were in for some excitement. We'd heard different stories of how this young woman had been terrorized by a ghost for the last nine years, of how just the other week she had been hospitalized due to a flying chair striking her in the head, and how she was now at the limit of her sanity. We'd been told of knives flying across the room, pictures leaping from the walls and levitating coff

1.) First let us analyze what our relationship is with Vrndavana and then see how we can develop it. Lord Caitanya explained that these are the five most important aspects in devotional service, which if even a little bit performed, can quickly bring one to the stage of love of God.

sadhu-sanga, nama-kirtana, bhagavata-sravana, mathura-vasa, sri-murtira sraddhaya sevana

One should associate with devotees, chant the holy name of the Lord, hear Srimad-Bhagavatam, reside at Mathura and worship the

Summer 1973. It’s 8am, and already Washington, DC is bustling with activity, as everyone hurries to work. A group of ISKCON devotees also leave their temple, crossing Q Street and heading towards Connecticut Avenue, a heavily populated business district. But their job is different: as they walk, they sing kirtan, an ancient Vedic call-and-response style of chanting God’s Holy Names.

Suddenly, a young fellow appears out of nowhere, a flute tucked under his arm and long red hair streaming out behin

My dear devotees,
Please accept my humble obeisances.
All glories to His Divine Grace Srila Prabhupada! All glories to HG Aindra Prabhu!
My assistant called me from India, when I was on the way to the airport in Burma, and asked whether I heard about Aindra Prabhu. With the kind of tone in which he enquired, I thought of the worst, and it was true. Aindra had left us behind. I was shaken, shattered and shocked. I thought of flying to Vrndavan, but the arrangements could not be made in time. Unfortu

“NOT A BLADE OF GRASS MOVES WITHOUT THE SANCTION OF THE SUPREME LORD”—A TRIBUTE TO AYENDRA PRABHU

RESPECTFULLY SUBMITTED BY BHAKTI MADHURYA GOVINDA GOSWAMI (ACBSP) (MAKHANLAL DAS GOSWAMI)

The news of the sudden departure of Ayendra prabhu certainly comes as a great shock, as I am stunned along with all the devotees of the movement.
