Dare to dry the ocean

The sparrow challenged the ocean, “Return my eggs else I will dry you”. Hearing this ocean started laughing. The ocean had stolen the eggs of the sparrow and the little bird wanted her eggs badly. She was determined to get it back. And so with her tiny little peek she took a few drops of water from the ocean and threw it on the surface. She did it again and again. Everyone was amused; the ocean could not control his laughter. But nothing deterred the sparrow. She continued with her endeavour wit

A memorial for the great ISKCON devotee Jayananda Prabhu, "Mr. Rathayatra," who departed in 1976 at the age of 38, has been a discussion topic at the GBC meetings in Mayapur. As Haridas Thakur wanted to leave this world before Mahaprabhu, so Jayananda, a master of selfless service and sacrifice, wanted to leave this world before Srila Prabhupada.

Kesava Bharati Maharaja tells how during the intense weeks preceding a San Francisco Rathayatra, he

So better to leave it to use on senior devotees, Guru’s and maharaj’s and if you have time use it for reading and distributing srila prahupada’s books.

Acceptance of sannyasa by Srila Prabhupada

Acceptance of sannyasa by Srila Prabhupada

Acceptance-of-sannyasa-by-Srila-Prabhupada.jpg

“One night, Abhay had an unusual dream. Srila Bhaktisiddhanta appeared before him, beckoning. He was asking Abhay to leave home and take sannyasa. Abhay awoke in an intensely emotional state, “How horrible!” He thought. He knew it was not an ordinary dream, yet the request seemed so difficult and unlikely. Take sannyasa! At least it was not something he could do immediately. Now he had to improve the business, and with the profits he would print books. H

The smile of a Krishna Conscious person

The Smile Of A Krishna Conscious Person

“That is the way of Krishna consciousness.  Pure devotees are so absorbed in thought of Krishna that they have no other engagement; although they may seem to think or act otherwise, they are always thinking of Krishna.  The smile of such a Krishna conscious person is so attractive that simply by smiling he wins so many admirers, disciples and followers.” (from purport to Srimad Bhagavatam, 3.22.21)

2514879592?profile=originalWhile Lord Chaitanya was at the temple to see the deity of Jagannatha, thousands of people were in front of Him also seeing the deity. Suddenly, a woman who was unable to see Jagannatha through the crowd, climbed the column of Garuda that was just in front of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, placing her foot on His shoulder to get up. Govinda, Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's personal secretary, hastily got her down. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, however, chastised Govinda for this. When the woman came to her senses, she be

Parallels in Vedas and Modern Science

We can cite innumerable instances from the Vedas, which illustrate concepts similar to concepts from modern science. Modern scientists are wonder-struck on seeing these striking  similarities  and they cannot even imagine how such great truths were written down at a time when there were no sophisticated instruments. A few examples showing similarities in the  knowledge obtained from science and the Vedas are:

 •   The Mahabharata describes how once when Gandhari was pregnant, in a fit of ange

People often demand ‘Show me God, and I will believe in Him’. As Srila Prabhupada often said, "God is present everywhere, but we do not have the eyes to see Him." In Bhagavad gita Krishna tells in five illuminating verses 7.8-12 at least 15 places where we can see Krishna. In Rajkot last year (2006), our spirit

BHAGWAN SRI KRISHNA IN MY WALLET

BHAGWAN SRI KRISHNA IN MY WALLET

A small but touching story with a deep message.

A ticket collector in a train found an old worn out wallet in a compartment full of many people. He looked inside to find the name of its owner. There was no clue. All that there was in it, was some money and a picture of Bhagwan Sri Krishna. He held it up and asked, 'Who does this wallet belong to?'

An old man said, 'That's my wallet, please give it to me.' The ticket collector said, 'You'll have to prove that it is y

Srila Prabhupada's Quote

Srila Prabhupada Quote
2514877589?profile=original

"Now we have got so many students and so many temples but I am fearful that if we expand too much in this way that we shall become weakened and gradually the whole thing will become lost. Just like milk. We may thin it more and more with water for cheating the customer, but in the end it will cease to be any longer milk. Better to boil the milk now very vigorously and make it thick and sweet, that is the best process. So let us concentrate on training our devotees very th

Unlike us, Lord Krishna arrives in this world by His own sweet will.

As infants, we enter this world in a delivery room because we need to be delivered from the confines of our mother’s womb. Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, comes here as an infant, too. But He has no need for a delivery. He arrives by His own sweet will, and His purpose is to deliver us. He plays the role of an endearing and dependent newborn, but He is complete with all of the powers of the Godhead.

Lord Krishna
