In spiritual parlance there are ‘thin’ places in the world. These are holy places, sacred spaces, where the line between the spiritual and materials worlds is very thin and the ability to feel and perceive our relationship with Krishna is heightened. It’s easier to chant there, to call Krishna deeply from the heart, and thus to call ourselves to experience our spiritual selves.
There are also thin days (and even thin times in the day). Janmastami is one such day.
𝐀𝐖𝐄𝐒𝐎𝐌𝐄 𝐒𝐫𝐢 𝐊𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐧𝐚 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐬𝐡𝐭𝐚𝐦𝐢 𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐫𝐢𝐥𝐚 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐛𝐡𝐮𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐚
“…. So, this bhakti, devotional service of Kṛṣṇa, is so nice. And under that bhakti category, this Janmāṣṭamī… Of course, this Janmāṣṭamī ceremony is observed by all Hindus. Irrespective of becoming Vaiṣṇava or not, this ceremony is observed in India, every home. Just like in your Western countries the Christmas is observed in every home, similarly, Janmāṣṭamī is observed in every home. Today is a great ceremonial day.

1 सूत गोस्वामी ने कहा: सुमन्तु ऋषि, ने अथर्ववेद संहिता अपने शिष्य कबन्ध को पढ़ाई और उन्होंने इसे पाठ्य और वेददर्श से कही।

1 सूत गोस्वामी ने कहा: व्यासदेव के पुत्र, स्वरूपसिद्ध तथा समदृष्टि वाले श्रील शुकदेव गोस्वामी द्वारा जो कहा गया था उसे सुनकर महाराज परीक्षित नम्रतापूर्वक उनके चरणकमलों के पास गये। मुनि के चरणों पर अपना शीश झुकाते हुए, हाथ जोड़े, जीवन-भर भगवान विष्णु के संरक्षण में रह चुके राजा परीक्षित ने इस प्रकार कहा।
2 महाराज परीक्षित ने कहा: आपने आदि तथा अन्त से रहित भगवान हरि की यह कथा सुना कर मुझ पर इतनी महती कृपा प्रदर्शित की है कि मुझे अपने जीवन का लक्ष्य प्राप्त

1) … the temple and washroom are not clean
2) … a poor brand of incense is being used for the deities
3) … there is dissension amongst resident monks
4) … we lag behind in building repair
5) … the front yard is overgrown by weeds
6) … classes are delivered without eye contact and in monotone
7) … shoes are not placed in the designated area
8) … bugs enter and we don

2 हे राजन, तुम यह सोचने की पशु-मनोवृत्ति कि, “मैं मरने जा रहा हूँ" त्याग दो। तुम शरीर से सर्वथा भिन्न हो क्योंकि तुमने जन्म नहीं लिया है। विगतकाल में ऐसा कोई समय नहीं था जब तुम नहीं थे और तुम विनष्ट होनेवाले भी नहीं हो।
