Once upon a time, the Sages Vishwamitra and Vasishtha, debated the relative merits of tapasya and satsanga.  Vasishtha asserted that satsang is the most spiritually powerful path. Vishwamitra insisted that tapasya is supreme. 

Vishwamitra, burst into the Vasishtha's satsang, and demanded that they ask Ananta Sesha Naga to resolve this difference of views. Although the satsanga started only 10 minutes before this interruption, Vasishtha agreed to humor Vishwamitra.

lobhah pravrttir arambhah
karmanam asamah sprha
rajasy etani jayante
vivrddhe bharatarsabha

SYNONYMS

lobhah--greed; pravrttih--hankering; arambhah--endeavor; karmanam--of activities; asamah--uncontrollable; sprha--desire; rajasi--in the mode of passion; etani--all this; jayante--develop; vivrddhe--when there is excess; bharata-rsabha--O chief of the descendants of Bharata.

TRANSLATION

O chief of the Bharatas, when there is an increase in the mode of passion, the symptoms of great attachment

Distribution of my books is the most important thing. These other thing such as selling incense and records are not as important as this. I want that my books be distributed in huge quantities and thus we will be able to thoroughly convince the majority of population.

Veda Vyasa is not the origin of the Bhagavad Gita.

Bhagavan is the source of the Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna is the speaker of
the Bhagavad Gita; Veda Vyasa is only the compiler, editor, and publisher.

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna declares to Arjuna, that He is God. If we
consider Him a LIAR and cannot accept Krishna as God, we cannot understand
the Bhagavad Gita.

Before we can understand the Book, we need to accept the credentials of the
Author. If we do not trust the Author, we will not trust His Bo

Hare Krsna.

I was reading about Vic DiCara's astrology at Astrological remedies. Two points he mention stuck me:

a) It is not our destiny that must be “remedied,” 

    it is our misuse of free will that requires a cure!

b) A “remedy” is really a treatment 

    to correct the flaw in how we deal with our present,
    and thus create our future.

First and foremost cause of suffering is avidya, lack of knowledge. Thus the most essential of all remedies is knowledge itself.

Then, inattention while chanting the Holy Name. You should chant this Hare Krsna and you should hear also. If your mind is acting, the mind is somewhere else, and you are chanting, that is an offence. You should hear, this is called, Samadhi. If you chant and hear then your mind is interlocked by hearing and chanting, this is samadhi. Samadhi means trance, trance means completely absorbed. So by hearing and chanting act in both ways you’ll be in trance, and that trance will keep you in that tran

The Bhagavad Gita is not a mythological story.

Brought up as most children are, on a diet of comics and super-heroes, it is natural for us to speak of Krishna as one more fictional and mythic hero.

Nevertheless, Krishna is not a myth. He is not the figment of the
imagination of Veda Vyasa. He is not like Superman, Batman, or a hero from Star Wars. He is a genuine historical personality who walked on this earth more than 5,000 years.

prakasa upajayate
jnanam yada tada vidyad
vivrddham sattvam ity uta

SYNONYMS

sarva-dvaresu--all the gates; dehe asmin--in this body; prakasah--quality of illumination; upajayate--develops; jnanam--knowledge; yada--when; tada--at that time; vidyat--must know; vivrddham--increased; sattvam--the mode of goodness; iti--thus; uta--said.

TRANSLATION

The manifestations of the mode of goodness can be experienced when all the gates of the body are illuminated by knowledge.
