Devotees who develop love for Lord Krishna will see that it is Lord Krishna and Him alone that has assumed the form of four armed Vishnu and all the other Avataras, as in song Sri Dasavatara Stotra by Srila Jayadeva Gosvami: keshava dhrita mina sarira, keshava dhrita narahari rupa... It is Keshava, Krishna, Who has assumed all these forms of incarnations of a fish, of half man half lion etc. But They are still Krishna for the lovers of Krishna.

There is one four armed Deity not far from Jagannath Puri by the name Alarnath, or Alalanath, Whom Lord Caitanya saw as two armed Krishna. You can read about Him here:

Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

When we chant our rounds very attentively we will be ready to take birth after birth in this material world or even to stay in the Hell forever. what to speak of being His sakhya.

Devotee even does not dare to ask Krishna to be His sakhya. This position is given to the Devotee only by His mercy. First we have to become a servant of His servants then by their mercy we will be dear to Krishna.

The only difference is in the mood of the devotee.The four armed Vishnu is known and revered as the preserver of this universe and is revered as such.The 2 armed Krishna deity is the supreme lord and in his original form.Devotees usually have an added personal touch when worshiping the lord in this form. The personal touch can be of the following 5 forms

1. Santa rasa( neutral as in trees , plants)

2.Dasya as was in the citizens or assistants of lord in Dvarka

3.Sakhya as was present in Uddhava or Sudama

4.Vatsalya as was present in Yashoda or Nanda baba

5.Madhurya as is present in Radharani

For 4 armed Vishnu the rasa that would be predominant is either santa or dasya.Even gopis could not develop madhurya for 4 armed Vishnu when Krishna assumed that form.

Thanks for the xplanation.....got another query if we worship vishnu deity and chant Mahamantra would one attain Vaikuntha or Goloka?? What if we worship Vishnu with with sakhya rasa isn't it possible? As you have mentioned it depends upon mood of devotee....

  To answer your question, don't worry about the destination. Concentrate on your path.The lord knows where you belong and asking him for his mercy will open up the knots in your hearts.These knots are which make us forget the lord and think we are this body and this lifetime is all we have etc.
  
  Once Krishna tried to trick the gopis and assumed his 4 armed Vishnu form. When the gopis who were looking for Krishna came there, they quickly folded their hands in worship and moved on, looking for their 2 armed transcendental paramour.They couldn't develop feelings of intimacy for the 4 armed form.I am sure we mortals can't achieve what the gopis couldn't do.
  
  It is said that we are literally morons that we dont know how to love the GOD.To help us love better, the scriptures give us ideal examples which we have to try to copy from inside(not just outwardly). The examples given in my previous post are not a product of my original thinking, but taken from scriptures.
  
  I haven't come across an example of sakhya rasa developed while worshipping Vishnu with sakhya rasa.If any other devotee has come to know of this, please enlighten the rest of us.
