Why No Haircut On Ekadashi?

Hare Krishna All Devotees,

All Glories To Srila Prabhupada,

Its just a quest, please don't take other way!

According to Sastras, a hair cut is considered to be a symbol of surrender and personal cleanliness and Ekadashi is the day when Krishna is also very happy so why can't we choose this day hair cutting, shaving, nail cutting, etc.?

I myself follow these rules but don't know their meanings. Besides this what other rules are menshion in Sastras about Ekadashi Day?

Are these rules very compulsory to follow even in any emergencies?

Please guide me...... Jai Gurudev!

The main thing is to save time for serving to Krishna not to ourselves.

Hair cut, oiling our bodies, cooking....are time consuming. So on the place of these things we can apply oil to Krishna's body; make up His hair, bath His body, cook feast for Him and chant His Holy Names.

    Your servant,

    • Thank you Mataji, I got your point, so there is no harm in doing them in any emergency?

  • Hare Krishna.. PAMHO

according to my grand mother and her Gurudev ji, on the day of ekadshi- one hair cut is equivalent to crime of one cow death.
