Why Lord Krishna stopped Indra puja ?

pamho, hare krishna,

Why Lord Krishna stopped Indra puja ?

Bhagavad Gita As It Is, 10.22 says,

vedanam sama-vedo 'smi
devanam asmi vasavah
indriyanam manas casmi
bhutanam asmi cetana

TRANSLATION
Of the Vedas I am the Sama-veda; of the demigods I am Indra; of the senses I am the mind, and in living beings I am the living force [knowledge].
PURPORT
The difference between matter and spirit is that matter has no consciousness like the living entity; therefore this consciousness is supreme and eternal. Consciousness cannot be produced by a combination of matter.

  • Hare Krishna,

We all have Krishna in us....then why not pray to me or you? Is it not funny to say so?? Indra felt he is lord.. and with that false ego he was operating.. When you imitate Lord you will have to fall down.

Just as watering of leaves cannot reach the roots of the plant.. So also.. though God is present in all.. even Indra is also part of God.. But serving Indra.. we may not reach God.  At the max you may ask him rains. Just like that..Demigods are capable of giving you temporary things benefits for a better material life but not useful for attain Krishna consciousness.

If you pray to the demigods you will get instant benefits and boons but.....If you pray to Krishna you will get rid of this cycle of birth and deaths itself Permanent relief., after all who made these demigods? Krishna made them right?

Leaves of a plant if they start behaving with ego that ....without them (leaves)  there is no plant itself, then they must be taught a lesson. Indra was egoist and felt he is great and became envious of Lord ..so lord taught HIM a lesson. Even we become egoistic and envious and try to imitate Lord so only we are here in this material world.

    Hare Krishna.
