why Krishna does not immediately reciprocate?

He reciprocated even before the word "immediately". Just the problem is with us. He reciprocates from time immemorial but we are covered with dirt because of that we can not feel Him.

Solution:

To chant the Holy Names being tolerant, humble, respecting others and not waiting for respect for ourselves.

the reason I(krsna) do not immediately reciprocate the affection of living beings even when they worship Me, O gopīs, is that I want to intensify their loving devotion. They then become like a poor man who has gained some wealth and then lost it, and who thus becomes so anxious about it that he can think of nothing else.

  when we are attentive. When our heart is for some extent is pure then we can be attentive to Him and recognize Him.

He is testing your sincerity. Otherwise, you might think, "Oh, Krsna is easy to get." See the part in the Krsna book where He tells the gopis that cannot properly repay them. I think in the last page of the rasa-lila section.
