I have seen silk clothes being stitched for the deities for deity worship. Why do we need to stitch clothes. What is its importance. In fact, Krsna doesn't need clothes to wear. If at all he needs, we can stitch clothes made from other material like cotton. Why do we need silk. While extracting silk, millions of silkworms are killed. In fact, we are also not supposed to wear silk garments for this reason. Even if we say that we are doing it for the lord and the silkworms get liberated by doing so, who are we to become the reason for their liberation. If at all they are destined to get liberated, Krsna will take care of the same. Why to kill those poor and innocent silkworms? I am not criticizing any scriptural rules and regulations and I am not supposed to criticize. I am confused with this and I just want some body please explain me on this.

Hare Krishna Prabhu, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
Do we wish to see Deity of Krishna naked? No. Devotees on the place of decorating their own bodies spending huge amount of money for costly ties, jackets, trousers they buy simple cotton piece of cloth (dhoti, saree) for themselves but for Krishna they offer nice dresses.
It shows their selflessness.
They do not care of their own comforts much but want to please Krishna by nice offerings.
Now about silk. Yes, these days some people kill worms while they do silk but there are ahimsa free silk also. So Devotees can use that.
Your servant in serving to Srila Prabhupada
