    Hare Krsna,

Wonderful prabhu Mihir. I don't think it is too much off topic at all since it talks about Lord Nrisimha.

It is a very wonderful description. Thank you again,

    Hare Krsna,

This is a very interesting question prabhu. It is perhaps explained in the sastra and I will continue investigation to tell you later.

However, what i understand with my limited senses and abilities is that Lord Jagannath is dressed as Narasingha in different regions of India. The worship of Lord Narasingha dates back a long time with several provinces, family traditions. Lord Jagannath is the lord of the Universe and he is dressed in different ways.

In the article, http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/features/10-11/features2241.htm, it is mentioned that

"The deities showing their close affinity with the human world does changes their dresses/costumes with change in time. The dresses, make up or the costume locally called as veshas starts changing with the first daily ritual of Mangala Aarati. The deities on the Ratnavedi are adorned with various gold ornament studded with precious gemes.Tulasi leaves, sandalwood paste, camphor & occasionally musk are used in the daily puja of the lords.Besides changing the dresses daily there are certain veshas which the deities use on some special occasions falling in different part of the year."

In the article, http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/features/10-11/features2241.htm, it is mentioned:

"As for the identification of Lord Jagannath as Narasimha, it has been stated by the noted German scholar H.V. Stietencron that even today, Narasimha plays an important role in the periodical renewal of the wooden Deity form of Jagannath. Jagannath is also worshipped in the Nrsimha Mantra. He further writes. "The worship of Purusottama Narasimha can be traced back to Sirpur in the upper Mahanadi valley, the ancient capital of Daksina Kosala. It is here that during the late Panduvamsi period we find one of the germs which later developed into the composite Jagannath cult of Orissa."

In the article, http://www.harekrsna.com/sun/features/10-11/features2241.htm, it is mentioned that

"the Dalikia Vesha or Laxmi Nrisimha Vesha is used on the 14th day of the bright fortnight of the month of Kartika. "
