Hare Krishna, Dandavat !!

Current global politics is going through a topsy-turvy curve.

Against all expectations, the past 12 months has produced cascading failures in international diplomacy. This collapse has been captured this month in an annual “Global Peace Index”, produced by the Australia-based Institute for Economics and Peace. It claims the recent deterioration in world affairs — even before events in Ukraine and Iraq — has been the most serious since the end of World War II.

Present crisis can trigger world war III. i have read Srila Prabhupada predictions about world war III. He have many times warned his disciples about the upcoming world war. And when he was asked by his disciple as to how can a devotee prepare himself from world war, prahupada's reply was as simple as that "PREPARE TO CHANT HARE KRISHNA" :)

Although he have pushed on the idea of Organic Sustainable farms, but it is not possible for all devotees to leave home and get his own organic farm :) . In such scenario, only chanting the Hare Krishna Mahamantra is the way out. And as i read somewhere, if a person dies due to some accident, weapons or falling from roof and he chants Krishna's name at the time of dying, he will never return to this mortal world. Is that really so ??? Plz share :)

  • 1) Difference between Chanting and Remembering
Chanting and remembrance (smaran) are two different things. One can be physically chanting but the mind is thinking about something else (in your e.g. about war). So in this way, even if you chant for the whole life, no realization is possible. It is the mind that is reason for bondage and liberation. If during chanting, mind is not engaged in thinking about Krishna's form/name, past times, virtues, abode and his saints/realized devotees, then tears will not come, voice will not get choked i.e. none of the 8 sattvik bhavas will appear. Such chanting is of no value. If you have been practicing chanting for more than 6 months and still the above symptoms are not appearing then you need to seek help from your Guru. Even chanting maha mantra once with tears (of separation from Krishna) is better than life long chanting of 16 rounds without tears. Why tears are not coming? Because we are puffed up with subtle ahankaar/ego/vanity/arrogance/pride. And what do we have this pride for? We cannot match cupid/Kamdev in beauty, Kubera in wealth, Indra in powers, Brihaspati in knowledge. We are not even a tiny speck in this vast creation.

Non-Authorized People give example of Ajaamil who chanted Narayan once and Vishnu messenger came to take him to Vaikunth. This is completely incorrect. Please read Srimad Bhagavatam carefully under a realized soul. It was a dream for Ajamil (and did not die taking name of his son) and later when he woke up he realized his mistakes, left his family and went to Haridwaar. There he practised devotion for one full year after which he became realized soul. Not by chanting Narayan once. Moreover if he were to be remembering his son Narayan then according to shastras he will achieve his son and not vaikunth.

    2) Chanting at the time of Death
No one (except Mahapurush/God realized saints) can remember Krishna at the time of death. If someone hasn't realized/seen Krishna in his own lifetime then he will certainly be reborn. Krishna very cleverly says in gita 8-6 "one who at the final moment gives up their body remembering ..." to simply motivate devotees on the path of devotion. What is this final moment? It is the time when soul along with subtle (senses+mind+body) leaves the gross body. The Skanda Purana states that: There is no doubt that at the time of death it is not easy to remember the Supreme Lord due to the difficulties of dying. The pain of dying is more than the pain of thousands of scorpion biting simultaneously. One loses consciousness when the pain exceeds beyond the bearable limit of mind. So it is impossible for a non realized person to be in conscious state to even remember Krishna. For e.g. if someone hits you with stick on your head, you'll be in pain. He hits you again and again and at one point the pain becomes unbearable and you'll lose consciousness because now mind is not able to bear it. Have you experienced what your mind thinks when one scorpion or honey bee bites you? Also it is not the last moment when mind is unconscious. Instead after this, the soul acquires a new subtle body before leaving the current gross body. To put it simply, only spiritual mind can remember Krisna 24/7 and for eternity, material mind cannot. Who has the spiritual mind? One who realizes Krishna gets the power of swarup shakti/Yoga Maya/Prema Shakti which spiritualizes the mind and hence only realized saints can remember Krishna at the final moment. Who realizes Krishna? One whose heart/mind is clean slate, completely clean. How to make heart/mind clean slate? By thinking about Krishna's form/name, past times, virtues, abode and his saints/realized devotees.

    3) What should devotees do in war or otherwise?
Remember Krishna even more, NOT for seeking material help or saving your life but only to help you remember him all the time. Person asking for material things from Krishna is not a devotee at all. You should rather die than to ask for material benefits from Krishna. It is like going to Indian Sweets Shop and asking for chappal (shoe). If you're asking from him it means you do not believe that he is omniscient (all knowing). ONLY ONE thing a devotee should ask from Krishna and that is "Samarthaa Rati Prem" to put it simply "Gopi Prem" period.

  • We should gather a Kirtan Party and do nagar sankirtan across the streets for the Holy name to be heard for Everyone even in a war situation

    • Hare Krishna. Krishna never told us to do suicide. Its better to run together such that u can spread kc when the war is over.
  • Who cares. Just chant. When it comes Rrrrunnn.
  • Volunteer

if he or she chants and dies then yes that is right no matter how she or he left her body.

    Your servant,
