Consciousness is very subtle. We are always conscious of something or the other thing when we are doing all our activity. Mostly it will be our body and everything connected to our body what we are conscious of. Being Krishna Conscious is to put Krishna in place of our body and everything connected to our body in our activities.

We all use so many electronic gadgets like laptop, cellphone, music players, television, etc... All these can be very much material if we use it for our own enjoyment to do some mundane stuff. All these can be very much Krishna Conscious if it is used in the service for Krishna. Like I am using my laptop to respond to this discussion and to chat with devotees, make notes in temple Srimad Bhagavatam class, read Srila Prabhupada books, hear lectures recorded previously, prepare presentations, etc...

Some people misunderstand being Krishna Conscious is to give up what we have and renounce everything and join temple or something. But this is not true. Srila Prabhupada has made the process very simple. He says, chant Hare Krishna Mahamantra daily minimum of 16 rounds, Associate with devotees regularly (at least attend sunday feast lecture in temple), read Srila Prabhupada books every day for atleast 30 min, hear Krishna katha for 30 min minimum everyday, and eat only Krishna Prasadam - vegetarian food offered to Krishna. Apart from this, we can do all our occupational duty very well. If we are students, we should study well and try to top the class as a service to Krishna because by seeing us many may be inspired to follow the path of KC. If we are working, we should work very efficiently and excel in the field so that other colleagues feel inspired and take up KC. SP used to devotees should be role models for the society.

For a grahasta, it is very important to give charity regularly. Grahasta is the only class of the society which earn money and the other 3 class viz Brahamacharies, Vaanaprastas and sanyasies, do not work to earn money. So its the responsibility of a grahasta to support them by giving charity. It is said that we would have accumulated a lot of sinful reaction because of the work we are doing for earning money and in order to get rid of it, we have to give charity. Ideally, we can donate anything from 10%-50% of our salary to temple as charity.

Apart from these, we can have deities at home (laminations at least) and try to do the mangalarthi at home (if not elobrate as we do in temple, at least a short aarthi to offer incense and ghee lamp should be done). Have a tulasi plant at home and water her daily and beg for mercy and devotion. If we have place at home, we should hold some programs to help our neighbors to learn about Krishna Consciousnesses. By feeding prasadam to devotees, we can earn lot of their blessings which will surly help in progress in our spiritual life.

By keeping Krishna in the center of all our activities, we can remain Krishna conscious.

Krishna consciousness means God consciousness. Realizing that I am not the body. I am the spirit, Atma, that some how or other got entangled in this material existence.
That I am the eternal servitor of Krishna, The Supreme Personality of Godhead.
That this (earth/material world) is not my real home. My real home is in the spiritual world, as a servitor of Krishna.

Hare Krishna dear Devotees, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

Krishna consciousness also means always remember Krishna and never forget Him.

Whatever we do, we have consciously know that we are doing it for Krishna, in order to please Him first.

For example, i study i have to know that i am studying for Krishna, or i earn money i am earning it for Krishna. I will buy food and offer to Him...etc.

And by doing all these things just chant the Holy Names. After finishing 16 rounds we can chant the Holy Names on mind while we are on the way, bus, job, ...

Devotee does his duties perfectly without any cheating, misleading people, what to speak of black money....because he is doing it for Perfect Person Krishna.

Because of that if everyone becomes Krishna Conscious there won't be any suffering in the whole Earth Planet.
