We get a 'Siddha Deha' - spiritual body, in the spiritual world. The form is decided and wished by the spirit soul and sanctioned by Krishna. We get a spiritual body according to our bhava of bhakti. If we worship the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Krishna , in the mood of awe and reverence (Dasya Bhava) we get to serve him as His servant in one of the Vaikuntha planets, through Sakhya bhava we get to serve Him as one of His friends, through Vatsalya bhava we get His association as a senior Gope or Gopi who takes care of Him like His parents and through Madhurya Bhava we get a body of a Gopi who serves Radha and Krishna intimately (Nikunj Seva).

True, soul desires and gets particular type of body with the sanction of Krsna.
We get spiritual body from Krsna and that will be our eternal body.
To get spiritual body one has to study all the stages of Bhakti. Know what is Bhava, what is nishtha, ruchi etc. One may have to strive hard and achieve prema after many, many life times.
To go to spiritual world is not so difficult, difficult thing is to achieve particular relationship with Krsna.
If we don't cultivate particular relationship with Krsna but only desire to go to spiritual world then we will stay there far from Krsna, not having closer relationship with Him.
We are not given spiritual body blindly or not having our free for that. We get that kind of body in which we want to serve to Krsna.
Devotee first has some faith - Shraddha;
Then he starts associating with Devotees, sadhu sanga;
Then he starts doing Bhajana Kriya - chanting of the Holy Names.
Then comes stage anartha nivritti - where his heart starts cleansing;
Nishtha - when Devotee becomes firm in his faith and regularly, without break follows sadhana.
Ruchi - he achieves taste for the service and chanting;
...
So we should check ourselves where we are and move forward towards the next stage.
If one day we chant another day sleep, or one day eat properly and another day eat a lot then for sure we are not in Nishtha stage.

We achieve an eternal form suitable for our eternal relationship with the Lord
whatever relationship is your deepest hearts desire with Krishna that is what you
will attain .there are 5 basic rasas neutrality servitorship friendship parenthood and conjugal love.
You will get an appropriate form to fulfill your relationship with the Lord in loving service.
In spiritual world, soul usually takes form similar to Lord.

SB 7.10.39 — Not only Śiśupāla and Dantavakra but also many, many other kings who acted as enemies of Kṛṣṇa attained salvation at the time of death. Because they thought of the Lord, they received spiritual bodies and forms the same as His, just as worms captured by a black drone obtain the same type of body as the drone.
SB 7.10.40 — By devotional service, pure devotees who incessantly think of the Supreme Personality of Godhead receive bodies similar to His. This is known as sārūpya-mukti. Although Śiśupāla, Dantavakra and other kings thought of Kṛṣṇa as an enemy, they also achieved the same result.

As Srila prabhuda said, we are pure sparks of divine spirit, which is by Vedic scriptures called atma or brahman.

This is according to my understanding.

Your servant,
This issue is a little confusing.
The way the question is put makes it confusing....
because we already have an original spiritual form.
It is eternal full of bliss and knowledge.. sat chit ananda.
It is covered by a material covering made of prakriti---earth water fire air and ether..
we don't exactly "take a spiritual form" this taking implies we get a form like
we get a material body..
we are not a material body never have been never will be
we are encased within a material body like a driver in a car..
the driver never takes the form of a car.. he is encased within as the operator..
the spiritual form is already there but due to association with matter since time immemorial
we are conditioned to believe we are the temporary form.
We get out of the car and we can understand very easily that the car is not our actual self
we get out of the material conception of life and association with matter and we can see our real form..
our original spiritual form the one we already have what we have always been...
We don't change this form...
