The above picture is drawn from the chariot allegory described in katha Upanishad 1.3.3-4

Katha Upanishad 1.3.3-4: ātmānaṁ rathinaṁ viddhi, śarīraṁ ratham eva tu: buddhiṁ tu sāradhiṁ viddhi, manaḥ pragraham eva ca. indriyāṇi hayān āhur viṣayāṁs teṣu gocarān, ātmendriya-mano-yuktam bhoktety āhur manīṣiṇaḥ.

    translation:

Know the self as the master of the chariot and know the body as the chariot itself. Know the intellect to be the charioteer and the mind as the reins. The wise speak of the senses as the horses and their objects as the paths on which they tread. They say that the (individual) soul associated with body, senses and the mind is the enjoyer.

So from the picture we see:

the person sitting in the chariot : is the soul

    the charioteer: is the intellect

    the reins: the Mind

the five horses : the five senses eyes, nose, ears, tongue, skin.

    Consciousness:

Consciousness is by which the conscious being become aware of his surrounding. Consciousness flows through two coverings:

    1. subtle covering : intelligence+mind+false ego

    2. gross covering:  five senses eye+nose+ear+tongue+skin

so first consciousness goes through subtle body (intelligence+mind+false ego) and then through gross body where 5 knowledge acquiring senses are implemented (eye+nose+ear+tongue+skin) and then it interact with the phenomenal world. so whatever we perceive through that five senses the impression gets stored  into mind and desire arise to enjoy it, then intellect discriminates whether it is good or bad for us, if good it makes plan to accomplish it.

what is spirt and how is this different from soul ?

Prabhupada used the spirit soul term to mean living force, so here spirit mean force and soul is living so therefore spirit soul means living force
