What are the benefits of chanting rounds within Japa Mala bag or Go-mukhi ?

Sanātana Gosvamī states in Hari-bhakti-vilāsa (2.146), quoting a verse Sammohana-tantra that one should keep his japa-mala hidden which is why Gauḍīya Vaiṣṇavas always keep their japa beads hidden from view in a cloth bag. The exact words used are gopayen nija-mālikām, hide one's japa mālā.
