Hare Krishna! This question just came to my mind. The goddess of fortune MAHALAXMI always remains with Narayana in Vaikunta planets so wont the worshippers of MAHALAXMI reach Vaikunta planets too? the worshippers of demigods reach demigods! This is just a general question.

yes, i heard it in the lecture of HH Bhakti Vidya Purna Swami Maharaj.

If we worship Laxmiji desiring wealth only, then we reach nowhere, because desiring something for sense gratification means further entanglement in material existence. This verse of BG explains that if we worship demigods for the sake of attaining them only then we can reach their planets, not in the case when we worships them to achieve something to enjoy here in earth.
Laxmiji don't have separate planets like other demigods. I don't think that there is any ritualistic process to reach Laxmiji alone , but the whole process is to please her to get wealth ( but all this process are in Karma Kanda section of vedas).
So in nutshell we can worship Laxmiji in two way. One for benediction for material enjoyment, which is the path of Karma-Kanda, we don't attain planet in this case. Another way is to serve her to attain the Lord of Vaikuntha, and that is Upasana-Kanda of vedas. Beacuse Laxmiji has no separate planets , She resides with Jagatpati only.

Mother Laxmi or goddess of fortune is Ardhangini of Lord Narayana. it is her prime position to serve Lord Narayana,the source of all the naras or the living entities.The naras are also meant to serve Narayana under the guidance of goddess of fortune,Lakshmiji. The living being cannot enjoy the goddess of fortune without serving Narayana,and therefore whoever desires to enjoy her wrongly will be punished by the laws of Nature.
So generally people worship Laxmiji alone for attaining more riches. In that way we can't achieve Vaikuntha , But when we take shelter of Laxmiji and ask her to give us opportunity to serve the divine couple then we can reach Vaikuntha.
Thats why in our Hare Krishna Mahamantra the first word is Hare which is representing Srimati Radharani, Laxmiji is one of her expansion as per Gaudiya Siddhanta, so we ask mother Radharani and approach her for service to them, because we can't approach Narayana directly. Then if Radharani chooses us for Krishna's service then only we can reach Vaikunta.

Even in Sri Sampradaya which was taught by Lakshmi Herself Alvars worship Lord Vishnu.
She did not told them to worship Herself but Her Beloved.
But people who worship only Lakshmi they worship Indrani. She is wife of Lord Indra.
Lakshmi Devi never appears alone. She is always with Lord Vishnu.
But the picture with Lakshmi Devi sitting alone with some items around is Indrani.
IN the picture You paste is real Lakshmi Devi.

Very nice question. When we were very new to KC, in our weekly class, there was one topic where the speaker told about this. Many people worship Laxmiji for she brings all the good fortune to them. This is very true mostly for MOST of the business men. But none of them think what Laxmiji wants or how can Laxmiji be pleased. The example he gave was say u need to get some favor from some one, then what we try to do?? we try to please his loved ones like his wife, children, parents etc and when he sees that they are pleased with our service he will naturally get pleased. In the same way, Laxmiji is eternally serving Lord Narayana and will be very much pleased if we worship Narayana rather than Laxmiji herself. Also worshiping Laxmiji alone is like calling only wife for our home for dinner and saying not to bring her husband!!! No chased wife will be happy to do so. I know you are talking from the perspective of a devotee who wants to serve Laxmiji and go back to her abode. But that is not the goal what SP has given us. SP says that we should try to go back to Goloka vrindavan the supreme of all abodes in the spiritual sky.
