    Hare KRsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

As perour scriptures, it is the duty of grihastas to maintain the other 3 ashrams. Therefore, giving charity or loan is part of financially supporting others. Chapter 17 of Gita talks about charity in the 3 modes of material nature.

We should be judicious in giving loans. The person we gvie loan to should use the money for noble purpose and not misuse for prohibited things, as already mentioned.

I have seen senior disciples helping others financially, sometimes knowlng that the "loan" may never be returned.

    Haribol,

    Your servants,

  • Hare Krishna,

Very nice you want to do charity to some person. It is good to donate and help people. But You should becareful that the person is going to use it for good things only. Like for example. If I donate to a person whom uses the money for gambling or drinking or prostitution. Than I will also get a share in his sins. That is why we shouldn't do " Apatra daan".

Apatra daan means donating to a person who doesn't deserve.  We must be very careful to estimate the person's nature.

For supoose I donate to a good person and he used my money for feeding his family and also feeding even a dog also.. ..then I will also get a share of the punya karma of his charity to the dog.

That is why Paratha is very important.

So, we don't know how people are in this kaliyuga, because kaliyuga is the age of cheaters. No one can be trusted.

So, for you I suggest donate to a oraganiation like iskcon or our own ISKCON desire tree .. It is doing such a great service of spreading the name of LORD. They are running this website and also Hare Krsna TV and also so many good activities they use the money for. We will get punya karma when we do such donations.  Money is used wisely and for good cause we know it right!!!
