Tulsi neck beads and women

I know that YouTube is not the best representation of life... but...

There are many ISKCON devotee with YouTube channels.  While watching some of them I have noticed an oddity.  When did it become normal for women not to wear tulsi neckbeads?  Granted, my island has no temple, and I have seen no devotee in 10 years, but I have been around the temples since 1984, and neckbeads have always been the norm.  Is it acceptable or normal now?  When and why?

The old neckbeads were tied on, and were meant to never be removed. The barrel clasps are nice, but that does not mean to remove them on a whim.

Just a bit confused.
