This is the celebration of the marriage ceremony of Srimati Tulsi Devi and Lord Sri Krishna.
*Purnima (the Full Moon)*, is also the *End of Kartika*, Sri Krsna Rasa-yatra (the purnima or full moon of Damodara month is the second full moon of the autumn season, and rasa lila is again celebrated), *Tulasi-Saligrama Vivaha* (this is the celebration of the marriage ceremony of Srimati Tulsi Devi and Lord Sri Krishna), and the *Last Day of Caturmasya.*
*Marriage of Shalagrama and Tulasi written by Sri Padmanabha Gosai.* The sacred marriage of Tulasi and Shalagrama (representing Lord Narayana) is a significant ritual detailed by Shri Vasishthaji from the Narada-pancaratra. The marriage can be performed after a Tulasi plant has matured for three years, with auspicious times including when the sun is moving north, Jupiter and Venus are rising, and particularly from the Ekadashi to the full moon in the month of Kartika or on the full moon day of Magha, during favorable constellations. The preparation involves arranging a yajna-kunda (sacrifice place) under a canopy (mandapa), performing shanti-vidhana, installing sixteen goddesses, and performing shraddha for female maternal ancestors. Four Vedically learned Brahmanas are appointed as the Brahma, acarya, rishi, and priest. An auspicious waterpot (mangala-ghat) is established, and an attractive Shalagrama-shila (Lakshmi-Narayana) is installed before the main ceremony begins with a griha-yajna and worship.
The wedding rites commence at dusk with the installation of golden and silver Deities of Narayana and Tulasi, respectively. The marriage is consecrated by tying two cloths together with the vasa-shanta mantra, tying marriage bracelets (kangana) with the yadavandha mantra, and performing the main consecration with the ko' dat mantra. The host, along with the appointed priests, then makes nine offerings in the yajna-kunda. The host, accompanied by family and friends, performs four parikrama (circumambulations) of Tulasi with the Shalagrama-shila. This is followed by reciting specific Vedic prayers (suktas and samhitas) and having the ladies perform auspicious acts like blowing the conch. The ceremony concludes with the final sacrifice (purnahuti), abhisheka (ritual bathing), and the giving of gifts (dakshina)—an ox to the Brahma, a cow, cloth, and a bed to the acarya, and cloth to the rishi. Installing and regularly worshipping Tulasi Devi alongside Lord Vishnu in this manner is said to remove all accumulated sins, and whoever devoutly plants, collects leaves, or installs Tulasi will achieve liberation and the abode of Lord Hari.
