  • Jai Shri sita ram ! First of all I would like to clear the fact that श्री संप्रदाय means the संप्रदाय which is coming directly from Shri Devi i.e Shri Janaki Mata . जगद्गुरु श्री स्वामी रामानंदाचार्य is none other than Lord Ramachandra himself in form of a Sarvabhauma Vaishnav acharya . It is the commitment of lord himself that whenever there is loss of spirituality , i incarnate in different forms. When whole earth was suffering from the distress given through the yavan and mlechhas , lord ramachandra , out of his extreme mercy took avatara in form of Yatirajeshvara(best among yati vaishnavas) in order to free ourselves from the clutches of yavana and mlechhas and teach the people , the love and devotion for the Supreme Absolute Primeval Lord Shri Ramachandra , He was the first acharya who gave the right to worship lord rama to each sect of society through his famous dialect : "Jati Pati Puchai nahin koi , Hari ko bhaje so Hari ka hoi" . Let no one ask a man's caste , whosoever wosrship lord Hari , is lord Hari's own people . In his exemplary works like Vaishnav Matabja Bhaskara which is a manual guide for all Vaishnavas , he preached

    "सर्वे प्रपत्तेरधिकारिणस्सदा शक्ता अशक्ता पदयोर्जगत प्रभुः"

It means that anyone , whether it be a man , animal , non living or living everyone has right in the prapatti(shelter) of lord ramachandra.

Except Shri Jagadguru Svami Ramanandacharya and Shri mad Chaitanya Mahaprabhu No acharya gave everyone right in prapatti of bhagvan .

And we can directly conclude also that this can't be done by any ordinary personality except lord himself . That's why As lord Chaitanya mahaprabhu is known as radha Krishna tanu milit avatara , in the same way , lord ramanandacharya mahaprabhu is known as bharat rama tanu milita avtara . He descended on this earth to taste the gopi bhava of bharat bhaiya for himself . This is the vishishta guna of bhagvan .

The guru parampara of Shri sampradaya is as follows :-

Somebody may ask that how ramanandi sampradaya can be called as mula Shri sampradaya . The answer is given in various scriptures :-

    Purusha Sukta of Shukla-Yajurveda
says: "O' Paratpar Purusa (Rama), You have two wives: 1) Śrī-Devi (Bhagavati Sita), and 2) Lakshmi-Devi (Maya Sita). (Thus here shruti distinguishes between Shri- Devi and Lakshmi Devi who both are wives of Bhagavan.)"

"Bhagavati Sita who is Śrī-Devi manifested herself in three forms Lakshmi devi, Bhu devi and Neela devi through her sankalpa."

Note:- Bhagavati Sita is a Vedic-deity in Rig-Veda, and Atharva-Veda. Para-Shakti in her ultimate form is Bhagavati Sita who is the consort of Paratpar Purusha Śrī Rāma, the cause of all causes. From that ParaShakti, Innumerable Lakshmi-s are manifested.
"Bhagavati Sita is the earth of the earth, and the Śrī of Bhagavati Śrī (i.e. original Śrī-devi; śriyaḥ śrīm meaning Sītā is none, but the original divinity herself, the origin of all the goddesses who can be called as Śrī such as Bhagavati Lakshmi, Bhagavati Radha etc and her innumerable manifestations)."
This analysis confirms the fact that the term "श्री देवी" actually refers to "श्री सीता देवी" .
Another fact which proves the argument of "श्री जानकी जी" being the "मूल श्री देवी" is:-
"We all know that any vedic mantra gets established only through the preacher(दृष्टा;in Sanskrit) of the mantra."
In "श्री रामानुजीय संप्रदाय" , the mantra which is coming through the disclipic succession is "नारायण अष्टाक्षर मंत्र" but it is indeed very confusing that "नर ऋषि" being the preacher(दृष्टा) of "नारायण मंत्र" , how can the "रामानुजीय संप्रदाय" can be called as "श्री संप्रदाय" . This is the most strongest argument against "श्री रामानुज संप्रदाय" for calling themselves as "श्री वैष्णव".
Now in the holy "श्री सम्प्रदाय" the mantra received through disciplic succession is "षडक्षर राम मंत्रराज" which contains six syllables and is called as "king of all the mantrās" .
The unparallaled glory of "षडाक्षर राम मंत्रराज" is sung as follows:-
    (Atharvavedā Shäkhayam Rama uttartapini 5.6-7)
Among all the mantras of Lord Ganesha, Lord Shiva, Goddess Durga, Lord Surya and in all vaishnav mantra (Narayan, Krishna, Narsimha etc.), the mantras dedicated to Shri Rama bestow greater fruits. And This Mantra-Raja of Bhagavan Shri Rama easily bestows Billions and Billions times the fruits of all the mantras dedicated to Lord Ganesha, Shiva, Durga, Surya and Vishnu. Such is the supreme glory of Mantra - Raj !
    Also same meaning is said in Purān too;
    सनत्कुमार उवाच:~
    अथ रामस्य मनवो वच्यन्ते सिद्धिदायकाः येषामाराधनान्मर्त्यास्तरन्ति भवसागरम् ।। १
    सर्वेषु मन्त्रवर्येषु श्रेष्ठं वैष्णवमुच्यते
    गाणपत्येषु सौरेषु शाक्तशैवेष्वभीष्टदम् ।।२
    वैष्णवेष्वपि मन्त्रेषु राममन्त्राः फलाधिकाः गाणपत्यादिमन्त्रेभ्यः कोटिकोटिगुणाधिकाः
    विष्णुशय्यास्थितो वह्निरिन्दुभूषितमस्तकः
    रामाय हृदयान्तोऽय महाघौघविनाशनः ।।४
    सर्वेषु राममन्त्रेषु ह्यतिश्रेष्ठः षडक्षरः ।
(Śrī Nārad Purān chapter 73 Shlokā 1–4)
    Now the question is that who is the preacher(दृष्टा) of this "श्री राम मंत्रराज" ? The answer is found in "न्यास विधि" of "श्री राम स्तवराज" of "श्री सनत्कुमार संहिता" as follows:-
    "अस्य श्री राम मंत्रराजस्य जानकी ऋषिः" .
    The preacher of "श्री राम मंत्रराज" is "श्री जानकी देवी" .
The most astonishing fact is that being called as "श्री वैष्णव" , can somebody demean the "श्री स्वरूपिणी श्री राधा देवी" who is eternal consort of "श्री गोलोकविहारी भगवान कृष्ण" by saying
    "दशग्रीवस्य भगिनी याभूच्छूर्पणखा पुरा || नन्दव्रजे समुत्पन्ना सैवाऽभूद्राधिका तथा ||"
    (प्रपन्नामृत, अध्याय 94 , श्लोक संख्या 104, लेखक: "अनंत श्री समलंकृत पूज्यपाद श्री प्रतिवादी भयंकर अनंताचार्य, दक्षिण तोताद्रि")
Meaning:- The one who was sister of Ravana known by the name of "शूर्पणखा" appeared as "राधिका" in "व्रज धाम" .
What an excellent analysis of a great acharya about her who is the "मूल प्रकृति" , "जगज्जननी" , "वृन्दावनेश्वरी"  to his disciples in his great exemplary work called as "प्रपन्नामृतम" . Now i want to mention the fact that this grantha is taught with full enthusiasm to all the students who take education under the ramanuja sampradāyam . No acharya of "रामानुजीय संप्रदाय" can go against the very idea of this grantha .
Every ramanuji has to completely learn this grantha called as "प्रपन्नामृतम" . I pray to lotus feet of "श्री रामानुजाचार्य जी" who went to his gurudeva to learn "वाल्मीकि रामायणम" for 18 times . He has wrote a beautiful grantha known as "श्री राम मंत्रार्थ" .
"श्री सम्प्रदाय" follows the tenet or the doctrine of "विशिष्टाद्वैत" . Doctrine of
"विशिष्टाद्वैत" comes from  commentary of "बौधायन महर्षि" on  "ब्रह्म सूत्र" known as "बौधायन वृत्ति" whose doctrine is taken up by "श्रीपाद रामानुजाचार्य जी" and he paid his gratitude towards acharya of "श्री सम्प्रदाय" known as "बौधायन महर्षि" by saying him "भगवद बौधायन".

  • Hare Krishna Manish Prabhu,

    Please read the article.

    https://www.harekrsna.com/sun/features/01-12/features2351.htm

Although the lineage of the Ramanandis is commonly referred to as the Ramananda Sampradaya, Ramananda Swami's line belongs to the Ramavat sect, a branch of the Shri Sampradaya. The Shri Sampradaya, more formally known as the Lakshmi Sampradaya, is one of the four main Vaishnava sampradayas. It is also referred to as the Srivaishnava Sampradaya, and as the Ramanuja Sampradaya. In modern times, Ramanujacarya is known as the primary Sampradaya Acarya, having produced his Sri-bhasya commentary on Vedanta. This siddhanta is known as Visistadvaita-vada (specific monism).

In a lecture on Srimad-Bhagavatam, Srila Prabhupada explained:

"Everyone worships the Lord and His potency, spiritual potency. Just like we worship Radha-Krsna, similarly, the Ramanuja-sampradaya, they worship Laksmi-Narayana or Sita-Rama. So we should follow the sampradaya. Sampradaya - vihina ye mantras te viphala matah."

Ramananda began his devotional life as a sannyasi in the Shri Sampradaya. While remaining loyal to the philosophy of Sri Ramanuja, Ramananda chose to promote the worship of Sri Sri Sita-Rama as the ultimate goal of bhakti, rather than the sampradaya's established form of worshipping Sri Sri Laksmi-Narayana.

Srila Prabhupada provided further commentary on the Gaudiya Vaisnava position on the Ramanuja Sampradaya in this letter to VSR Chakravarti:

"...We Gaudiya Vaisnava follow Srila Ramanuja's philosophy almost in the same manner. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu gives the identification of jiva soul as the eternal servant of Krishna and is situated as marginal potency of the Lord based on the philosophy of acintya-bheda bheda-tattva. This is almost similar to Visistadvaita vada.

"So far I am personally concerned, following the footsteps of my guru maharaj Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura Prabhupada, we accept the principles of all the acaryas, although officially we belong to the Madhva sampradaya. Our sampradaya is known as the Madhva Gaudiya sampradaya. We find great shelter at the lotus feet of Sri Ramanujacarya because his lotus feet are the strongest fort to combat the mayavadi philosophy."

    ----------------

See,  I find that you are attracted to Sri Rama and want to worship Sri Rama and that is why you chose Ramananda sampradaya. As the followers of this sect which is an offshoot of Sri Vaishnavism is promote mantra Sita- Ram. Sita Ram.

The thing is you may like to put any tilak. But you must accept some sampradaya thouroughly be it Sri Sampradaya, or Ramananda sampradaya or Gaudiya sampradaya. If you accept any of them you can take up diksha from any guru from any sect. take up the mantra that guru offers you to daily recite also. And put the tilak also as per the parampara.
Hare Krishna Mahamantra is gobally accepted by all vaishnava sampradaya as Kaliyuga Mantra and It is called Mahamantra. It is like all in all. If you recite this mantra there is no need to recite any other mantra also but but.. If you chose a guru from Ramananda Sampradaya and he gives you a mantra to follow( SITA- RAM) you must recite that mantra also daily along with Hare Krishna Mahamantra. And put the tilak also to  which your guru belongs to.  You cannot chose tilak as per Ramanandi sampradaya simply as you desire.. to put it  and  chant  mahamantra, read books from sri sampradaya. following rudra sampradaya and living a life of mayavaadi.. . That is not going to work like that.

Take up some sampradaya., I read from you profile and last question ( Gudakesha one) you said you love SHri Rama more.  And Sri Rama is given importance in two sects of vaishnavism more one is Ramanandi samapradaya and another is Sri sampradaya though Sri Sampradaya glorifies  Laxmi- Narayan majorly but the current guru Sriman Chinna Jeeyer Swami ji. Is stauch devotee of Sri Rama. He always advocates us to recite Aditya hridayam and Sri Rama Raksha Stotram. He has love for Rama.  It is again like whatever Lord's form appeals to you most.  He also gives importance to reciting Vishnu Saharanama and also Tirrupavai. and As you know Tirrupavai is dealing with Andal Amman ( how she attained the Lord Sri Krishna as her husband).  Bascially, all ends in Krishna. Krishna is the source of all sampradayas.

Like If you ask me. I am basically born in Sri Vaishnava family. I got initiated also into Sri Vaishnava sampradaya. I put the tilak of Sri Sampradaya ( Sri Churnam) and I also recite OM Namo Narayanaya Mantra given by guru, I recite daily and memorized Sri Vishnu Sahasranama stotra, Aditya Hridayam, Tirrupavai, Sri Rama Raksha Stotram as my guru adviced all these along with Guru Parampara slokas. But Somehow due to my good fortune or something I met some time back an iskcon devotee who was distributing books from him I purchased Bhagwad gita As it is. As it is available   in English it was easy for me to read  I  have attraction for Krishna somehow. Like you have attraction for Lord Rama.  Meanwhile my guru maharaj attained Vaikunta loka. I felt maybe my guru guided me to Srila Prabhupada, and handed me over to him. Since I was unble to read telugu and tamil books, I got oppurtunity to read Srila Prabhupada books. But ya., now you see. If you belong to any sampradaya also. You can take up Krishna bhakti. Like Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu influenced Gopala Bhatta Goswami ji ( who was previously a Sri Vaishnavaite) to take up Gaudiya Vaishnavism and glorify Lord Krishna.  Krishna is not restricted to any sampradaya. Any one can recite Mahamantra. It is yuga mantra.

    https://gaudiyahistory.iskcondesiretree.com/gopala-bhatta-goswami-b...

    check this link prabhu.

And actually it is must to recite Mahamantra for this yuga.( Kaliyuga) by all.

So, I suggest you to accept a parampara system not based on tilak ( external appearances) accept the parampara based on the liking you have for which form of Lord.  Even Lord Rama is glorified in Iskcon.  These external appearance of tilak or the dhoti style of draping or.. this is not the critera, you must see who is the founder aacharya of the parampara, is it authentic, are the followers of that parampara are carrying forward the same values and morals. Don't get carried away by the tilak.  Whatever parampara system you chose stick to that tilak and folllow the guru teaching ...you can as well chant mahamantra and read Srila Prabhupada books. It is not an issue.

Krishna can be attained by any sampradaya. All sampradayas lead to krishna. There are 4 major vaishnava sampradayas  1. Brahma madhava gaudiya sampradaya, 2. Sri Sampradaya.

    3.Shiva sampradaya. 4.Kumara sampradaya.

Ramanandi sampradaya is somewhere they say its an offshoot of Sri Sampradaya. As they follow Ramanujacharya, but at the same time not glorifying laxmi- narayan but instead glorifying Sita- Rama. like one of the follower called Ramananda formed his own sampradaya system because he loves Lord Rama more. It doesn't mean that is degraded or not worth. But  It is not so much in vogue. If we go to Vrindavan there we find many branches of Gaudiya sampradaya offshoots also.   Like Vallabha sampradya ( pushti marg) is also an offshoot of Rudra sampradaya. There are many small small branches of each main 4 vaishnava sampradayas.

Your choice you may take up Gaudiya sampradaya as you are chanting mahamantra and going to ISKCON also. What is so special about a tilak? any tilak any vesh bhusha Lord is the same.
FYI  I also have had this fascination for Urdhava pundra tilak of Sri Vaishnavism since childhood times...  I suggest you should meet Shriman Chinna Jeeyer Swami ji and take up Sri Vaishnavism and it doesn't matter if you go to iskcon or any other sampradaya temples. Bhagwan toh ek hi hai. Different roop.   I don't know much about Ramanandi sampradaya and who are its current followers or gurus.  But you can chant mahamantra added to your guru mantra whatever your guru suggests. not like for decoration of ur forehead by some tilak which you are fascinated about. You must know what those three lines suggest also.

    main-qimg-69194b913962844fb4df88ca9af68971.webp

The white lines significes Vishnu padam feet. and the central red significes Sri or Laxmi and the Lotus flower is the extension onto the bridge of the nose.

The reason why they are kept vertical is that they signify our journey from this lowly samsaara (material creation) to the supreme abode of Sri Vaikuntha  - basically an ‘uplift’ of a fallen soul.

Ramanadi's substitute the names or Laxmi narayan to Sita Rama. Depends on your choice to chose which sampradaya either Sri or Ramanada sampradaya. If you are just liking only tilak of that sampradaya and nothing else. Then I cannot help you in that. If you take up a sampradaya and follow the guru and his instructions then only you are eligible to put that sect tilak.

    Hare Krishna.

9423446490?profile=RESIZE_400xOrigin of all Sampradayas is Krishna and all end in Krishna only. FYI

Those who are really staunch Rama Bhakts will all reach Saket Loka. Goloka is reserved for Krishna devotees. Vaikuntha loka is for Vaishnavas.  I recently came across the term Karshnavas ( those who worship krishna) and then those who worship gaurangi or param gauri Shrimti Radharani, are Gaudiyas.  Madhva sampradaya worship only Krishna.  Brahma madhva gaudiya sampradaya worship both radha and krishna.

    Hare Krishna.
