The Nectar of Instruction

Hare Krishna

In the purport of text 3 from the book nectar of instruction by Srila Prabhupada while explaining the text three- a sloka from Bhagavad gita 9.4 is cited.Following the sloka, the meaning is explained in the book as follows:

'By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them'

Now my doubt is how to understand this sentence stating that 'I am not in them' because we know that Sri Krishna resides in everyones heart as the super soul. Can anyone please clarify this doubt. Sorry for any mistake in my question.

Thank you

Hare Krishna

  • Hare Krishna Sreedevi mata ji,

Lord is supreme Personality of God head He has many types of energies like --Internal energy,  External energy, Jiva shakti or thatastha shakti.

Now Lord who is seperate from all His energies also is pervading thru all His shaktis'

Without Lord's presence can you imagine there will be any Shakti's operating independently?? NO

Lord Supreme Personality saying in BG 9.4 that His impersonal feature pervades entire universe  all his shakti's are contained  IN HIM.

Nothing is serperate or acting Independently way from HIM

But the Advaitian Philosophers have concluded wrongly at this juncture and they said that ya, Lord is present in you and me. I am Bhagwan you are bhagwan Vishwa is also bhagwan.

These deluded philosophers have wrongly understood the purport of BG 9.4.

So, We must understand that though Lord is present In JIVAS as ( Jiva Shakti) as Parmatma,

Lord is present as Maya or External energy of Lord in the material world.

But ultimately Lord is totally seperate and Independent of these all energies. Though these energies are contained in Him. He is not these energies.

Just like SUN And Its rays are different. So also Lord and His energies are different.

Let me give you another example--

The Ocean is huge.. So many tides keep coming and going in Ocean.. when during monsoon there maybe  flooding of Ocean into the Land. But does that mean. Ocean empties into the Land?

No. Ocean is seperate, the excess water spilling to Land is seprate.

So here Advaita Philosophy is ruled out in this Sloka of BG 9.4. As Lord Himself is clearly stating.. Though My energies are contained in ME. I am not contained in them.

Indirectly Lord is saying I am the Sun and my energies  Jiva shakti , and Prakruti..( mahamaya) are My energies only though they are My own energies. They are present in ME but I am totally Seperate and Independent  entity.

How can you say Sun and its rays are same. Rays are something coming out of the sun. But sun is always seprate and different from its rays. You cannot just capture some rays in you hands and say I caught the Sun isn't it?

So also every Jiva has Parmatama in Him but maya ( external energy ) prakriti is also present but Ishvara ( Bhagwan) is totally different and present away from all these energies.

Thats the conclusion of Dwaita Vaishnav Philosophy of (BG 9.4) which is wrongly understood by Advaitians. And It is clearly explained to us by Srila Prabhupada in the purport of 9.4

"I am everywhere, and everything is in Me, but still I am aloof." ( purport 9.4 BG)

    Hare Krishna.

    • Understood mataji.

You really made it clear by giving examples.

      Thank you so much mataji.

      Hare Krishna

  • Hare Krishna mataji

I am not in them     this means Krishna is not stuck in them as we do. The energy of Krishna is definitely present in everything but Krishna is not affected or controlled by them. Thats why it is written here i am not in them means Krishna is not indulged or illusioned by them as we easily get mesmerized by shines of material objects and we can say for ourselves i am in them but this is not so for Krishna so it is written i am not in them.

Hope i am able to convey

Sorry if I am wrong anywhere philosophically

    Thanks

    Hare Krishna 🙏

    • Hoo ok
