I have some questions to ask
first of all
why do some people claim that the Vaishnava puranas are not authentic and the Vaishnava Upanishads are not veidic? Some even say that the puranas should only be accepted once they are accepted by the Vedas and therefore the Vaishnava puranas are not accurate
also an unscrupulous person told me that narayana param Brahma tattvas narayana parah is the wrong translation of the Narayana suktam he told me that it is Narayana param-Brahmatattva Narayana parah
And he uses this interopolation to say that Narayana is actually a lesser manifestation of Sri shiva…and he was actually a Rishi who became a Brahma tattva by his merit
listening to all this had made my mind feel very disturbed as for the past one year I have completely surrendered myself unto the transcendental service of Sri Krishna paramatma who I believe to be the supreme personality of godhead and the source to all the plenary portions of godhead
but right now I myself do not know what to do to right now because of all these unscrupulous commentaries by the Shaivas and the smartas
how do I deal with all this?
Someone please be my Sri Krishna like bhagavan himself was to Arjuna, which in this case is clearly me.

Well all the scriptures (Veda, puranas) including Shiv purans, Garuda Purana, etc were all written by vyasdev and in the end HE himself wrote the bhagavatam after he was not satisfied. So if the writer himself was not satisfied untill he wrote SB , how can then we be contented without it? And accepting it?.
Also at first I also thought of arguing with such kinds of people but after suggestions of devotees I stopped it, some people do comment on the philosophy, but I ignore them, since we are not so much learned in it right now.
Lord shiva himself tells mother Parvati that among all the worships the worship of lord Vishnu is highest and even in that the worship of his devotees is even higher.
Sometimes ignorance is indeed bliss

There is no long standing battle between Lord Shiva and Sri Narayana.

Your friend surely will not accept whatever we quote from as we will quote from Bhagwad Purana, Padma Purana and other Vaishnava books. ( I know who is you and your friend as well Shiva RamaKrishna )
Why waste our energy to prove to him?

Some people claim all kinds of things, so for a reliable knowledge we should follow acaryas and sastras. Before that our mind will feel disturbed.
Tattva sandarbha by Jiva Gosvami shows the sastra hierarchy. To get an idea:

That doesn't make sense - "once" should be "unless", no?
There are quotes in Upanisads (like "Venerable sir, I have studied the Rg, Yajur, Sama, and Atharva Vedas, and also the Itihasas and Puranas, which are the fifth Veda" [Kauthumiya Chandogya Upanisad 7.1.2]) or Brhad-aranyaka Upanisad 2.4.10 which accept Puranas and Itihasas as Vedic. Until you can defeat them, don't engage with them. Right now you can quote to them Adi Sankaracarya who accepts that Krisna is the avatari and leave them at that:
ye yadu nandanan ihat Aste tu na bhUyaH punar bhavaM prApuH |
tasmAd avatArANAm antaryAmI pravartakaH kRSNaH || 241||
As regards those who were killed by (Krisna), the delight of the Yadu-race, they did not again suffer rebirth. Therefore, Krisna is the originator and inner controller of Divine incarnations. (Adi Sankaracarya - Prabodha sudhakara 241)

Only Sri Krsna is Sri Krsna for Arujna and also every and all living entities.
No jiva can become Sri Krsna ever.
