The exact age of this universe.

Hare Krsna dear devotees

Today is 24/1/24 of the Kali-yuga of the 28th caturyuga of the 7th Manu of the first day of Brahma after he turned 50. (Happy belated birthday to Lord Brahma 💓). The lifespan of Brahma is the duration of our universe according to Bhaktivedanta Purports which is 311,040,000,000,000 years as mentioned in Bhagavad-gita as it is.

The scientists around the world can never give a date for the creation of our universe because the total observable universe with all its galaxies and clusters is 93,000,000,000,000 light years, whereas, we learn from the Vedic literature that the age of this universe is dependent on the lifespan of Lord Brahma which is half over. That means half of 311,040,000,000,000 years which is approximately 156,000,000,000,000 years.
The significance is that we cannot give an exact date or correct explanation for the creation of the universe by scientific methods because when we consider the universe by measurement of distance in light years, then for a distance greater than light takes to travel in 93,000,000,000,000 years can never be measured because beyond that distance, light emitted at one corner can never reach the other corner of the egg shaped universe (brahm-anda) provided the universe has expanded from a point in the material sky. That much has been verified by modern science that the universe is expanding.
Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji said long ago before the big bang theory that: "Keeta pasaao eko kavaao tis te hoe lakh dariao". Guru Nanak says everything emanated from this 'eko kavaao'. Therefore, all our research should be centered around this 'eko kavaao'. What does this mean?

    • As for the so called success of C-3?
It is stated in the Bhagavad-gita in the "yam yam vaapi smaram bhaavam.. " sloka how to travel to different planets of the universe. You simply have to meditate on the presiding deity of the planet you want to travel to at the time of giving up the earthly bodily form which is in any case unsuitable for the environments on other planets. Mechanical travel is a sheer waste of time and energy along with taxpayer's money. If you read the books of Prabhupada, the American and Soviet space program was at its peak when he wrote those books.
I'm simply echoing his statements in his landmark books especially "Easy Journey to Other Planets". For example if you want to enter the dazzling sun globe. You simply need to meditate on the predominating deity of the sun whose name is mentioned as 'Vivasvaan' in chapter 4 Bhagavad-gita. As such we will aquire fiery bodies that are suitable for the sun's environment. Likewise, if we want to travel to distant planetary systems such as Janaloka, Maharloka, Siddhaloka or even Brahmaloka, we simply have to meditate on the presiding deity of those planets while giving up the body so that we are able to take birth on those planets. Anyhow, mechanically, it is not possible to travel to these planets even with the speed of light.
Although, the eternal planet of Lord Krsna which is never subject to destruction, is much beyond even the eightfold coverings of this universe, we can reach there also if we think of Krsna only at the time of death as explained in the Bhagavad-gita: "Anta kaale ca maam eva smaran muktva kalevaram yah prayaati sa mad bhaavam na 'sty atra samsaya." Bhagavad-gita 8.5
Translation: Those who think of me only (Krsna) at the time of giving up their bodies attains my nature, of this there is no doubt.

      • Therefore, it is high time to shutdown the deep space program because even if we develop the technology to travel at the speed of light, nothing of significance can be achieved by traveling for trillions of years at that speed. Not to mention that nothing on earth can live that long, including the earth herself. In other words, it's a sheer waste of time and energy.

"The kingdom of the Supreme Personality of Godhead in the spiritual sky cannot be understood by any process other than hearing from the description of the Vedas. No one can go see it. In this material world also, one who is unable to pay to go to a far distant place by motorized conveyances can only understand about that place from authentic books. Similarly, the Vaikuntha planets in the spiritual sky are beyond this material sky. The modern scientists who are trying to travel in space have difficulty going even to the moon, to say nothing of the highest planets within the universe. There is no possibility that they can go beyond the material sky, enter the spiritual sky and see for themselves the spiritual planets, Vaikuntha. Therefore, the kingdom of God in the spiritual sky can be understood only through the authentic descriptions of the Vedas and Puranas."

  •  When did the Krishna speak gita to sun-god vivasvan? How many years ago?

    • Hare Krsna Prabhu

Vivasvaan became the sun god 28 catur-yugas ago. We know this because it is mentioned in the Srimad Bhagavatam that there is a change of demigods in charge of universal affairs in every manvantara. Therefore, Lord Krsna spoke the Bhagavad-gita to Vivasvaan not more than 4,320,000 multiplied by 28 years = 120,960,000 years ago. Here:

      1) Kali-yuga- 432,000

      2) Dvapara-yuga-864,000

      3) Treta-yuga-1,296,000

      4) Satya-yuga- 1,728,000

      Total=  1 catur-yuga = 4,320,000 years

      • Thank you. In gita it mention science as it appears to be lost. It took 120 million years plus change. :)
