    Hare krsna,

It is not a crime if one is interrupted while chanting. The interruption (especially in the temple) could be for a service or assistance and that is an acceptable interruption. You cannot respond "Prabhuji/mataji, I am chanting, can I come later?". Service comes first.

One should restart the round if they have to stop in the middle of the round for whatever reason.. It is better to chant when you are not ideally going to be disturbed by anyone.. The best time is in the early morning to get as many rounds done as possible..

As mataji has mentioned, the mood should be about being with the Lord and try to hear the Holy name than doing the rounds.

    All glories to Srila Prabhupad!!

    Hare krsna.

    Hare Krsna Prabhuji,

    PAMHO.

Ideally, chanting is the time when one is chatting with the lord. How can one chat with the lord, put Him on hold, and chat with whoever is around. Ideal is to complete the round and then answer that person.

Earlier, I used to restart my round if I have spoken in the middle. I must confess that I am unable to do so now. I simply continue, knowing fully well that it is not prescribed. One has to chant attentively and sincerely.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Radha Rasamayi DD
