Swami Vishwananda is Gaudiya Vaishnavism?

Hare Krishna,

i am uncertain and i have doubts about this master of Bhakti Yoga, and i would like to hear your opinions. I fear that he might be a bogus Guru.

I bought the Bhagavad Gita commentary written by him, and it is a massive tome (you can see photos attached).

If i am not wrong, it seems to me that his translation of the Gita is the same as Sri Aurobindo's.

I made some photos of Bhagavad Gita verse 8.20 with the commentary, as you can see. But in my opinion the commentary of this verse has nothing to do with the real meaning found in "Bhagavad Gita as it is" by Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada.

Or maybe i am wrong. Try to read it and tell me what you think.

Sri Swami Vishwananda is a spiritual master in the Sri Sampradaya. Therefore, he may be classed as a bonfide vaishnava (I don't know). His interpretations and translations may have a little bit of contradictions to our philosophy, but that is only if we choose to see it. I have listened to some of his lectures and I have had many realisations which fit into our Gaudiya philosophy. The point is, let us not judge and commit vaishnava aparadha.

The ultimate translations and interpretations of Bhagavad Gita is Bhagavad Gita AS IT IS by HDG AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Srila Prabhupada's philosophical conclusions represent previous acharyas in the disciplic succession leading to Krishna. That is what makes AS IT IS unique among other translations such as Sri Swami Vishwanada's. Therefore let us study Srila Prabhupada's books wholeheartedly, because only that is where the ultimate truth (words of Bhagavan and Bhagavatas) are found.

    Your servant.
