  • Hare Krishna,

We As Souls are all Parts and Parcels of Krishna ,we have been in this material world Since Eternity (Nitya Bhadda -- Eternally Conditioned) ,Say if in this Lifetime or so we take up Krishna Consciousness ,Before we go Back to the Spiritual World we have to Eradicate enjoy Punya and suffer Paap or Burn them up by Devotional Service . Krishna is Very Merciful he Reduces the Consequences of our sins and and gives it  to Experience it (Like if we had to Suffer for many lifetimes with suffering or Diseases) , But Actully krishna doesnt like to Punish us or see us suffering as we are his parts and parcels (same in quality as krishna but not same in Quantity) .Whatever Selfless Krishna Consciousness Service done for the Pleasure of Krishna is a permanent Asset and is Carried Forward across Lifetimes, so there is No Cause to Worry In Bhakti .

    Hare Krishna!

In the Vedic scriptures, it is explained that the experiences we undergo in this life are a result of our past actions, known as karma. Our present circumstances are shaped by our previous actions, whether in this life or past lives.

While we cannot know the specific reasons for an individual's suffering, we can draw insights from the teachings of Lord Krishna and the great acharyas. Sometimes, devotees may undergo difficulties or physical ailments as a means to purify their consciousness and progress spiritually. These challenges serve as opportunities for introspection, surrender, and growth.

In the Bhagavad Gita (2.14), Lord Krishna explains that the material body is temporary, subject to birth, old age, disease, and death. Devotees, like anyone else, are not exempt from these aspects of material existence. However, their faith and devotion provide solace and strength during challenging times.

In the Srimad Bhagavatam (10.14.8), it is stated that the Supreme Lord, Krishna, is supremely compassionate and personally takes charge of His devotees' welfare. He may sometimes allow them to undergo temporary difficulties for their ultimate spiritual benefit. Just as a loving parent may allow their child to experience temporary pain for their long-term well-being, Krishna acts out of His deep affection for His devotees.

Furthermore, the story of Dhruva Maharaja from the Srimad Bhagavatam illustrates that even great devotees may face temporary difficulties. Dhruva Maharaja, despite being a sincere devotee, initially underwent severe hardships. However, through his unwavering devotion and surrender, he ultimately attained an exalted spiritual position.

It is important to remember that Krishna's mercy is all-encompassing, and He takes into account the overall spiritual progress of His devotees. Even if they face temporary difficulties or pain in this world, their sincere devotion and service to Krishna will never go in vain. Krishna assures in the Bhagavad Gita (9.22) that He personally protects and provides for His devotees.

In conclusion, we must understand that the difficulties faced by devotees are part of the complex workings of karma and the material world. However, Krishna is always merciful and compassionate towards His devotees. Their challenges can be seen as opportunities for spiritual growth and purification. It is essential to maintain faith, continue practicing devotional service, and seek solace in Krishna's loving presence.

    • Hare Krishna Prabhuji,

      Dandavat Pranam

My humble obesiances unto your lotus feet

By chanting 16 rounds or more a jivatmas past karma is washed away still does he/she has to go through some bodily sufferings. This question cannot be explained properly to non devotees because  we in devotional service never doubts Krishna's will but for a non devotee this is like "Dekho bhakti karke bhi ise ye sab bugatna pad raha hai".

        Hare Krishna!

It is true that even devotees of Lord Krishna may still experience suffering in this material world. However, the suffering of devotees is minimized compared to that of non-devotees. The Supreme Lord, in His infinite mercy, reduces the suffering of His devotees because they have taken to Krishna Consciousness and are engaged in serving Him.

Suffering is an inherent part of living in the material world. As long as we have a material body, we are bound to experience various forms of suffering. The purpose of suffering for devotees is to help us develop humility, detachment, and dependence on the Lord. It is not an indication of our lack of devotion or the ineffectiveness of our bhakti practice.

In the Bhagavad-gita, Lord Krishna assures us that He personally takes care of His devotees and protects them. He may allow us to face certain challenges or difficulties as a means to purify us and strengthen our devotion. Our response to suffering should be to tolerate any difficulties that come our way, continue with our chanting, reading of scriptures, and routine devotional practices.

It is important to remember that devotional service is not meant to be an antidote for material pain. We should not approach Krishna with the sole intention of having our suffering reduced. Our primary focus should be on service and surrender to the Lord. By engaging in devotional activities with love and dedication, we can gradually transcend the material sufferings and attain spiritual realization.

In conclusion, suffering is a part of the material existence, but the suffering of devotees is minimized by the mercy of the Lord. Our answer to people who question why devotees still suffer should emphasize the understanding that suffering is a universal experience, and through devotional service, we can gradually transcend it and attain eternal happiness in the association of Lord Krishna.
