Stuff to be offered to lord

Hare Krishna to all the devotees

All glories to srila Prabhupada

Since the food offered to lord should be pure - atleast not been eaten from by anyone.

But when we purchase sweets (say ladu) from shops , from them many ladoos have already been sold and eaten. Same with fruits. So is it okay to offer them to lord?

Can I offer some ladoo made in house to lord Jagannath when I go to temple?

  • Hare Krishna,

If you wish to offer something eatables please try to make them at home.

There is one song in telugu I am reminded of it now and mujhe hasi bhi aarahi hai.

the song meaning is like this- I wanted to offer Lord Shiva something very pure. I tried to collect the honey from the honeycomb ..oh I realize that the honey is tasted by the honeybees already ..oh shiva what is the thing which is never tasted by anyone.

I wanted to offer the pure water of ganges oh linga...but I realize that it is also already sipped by the fish and many countless creatures already.. oh Linga what is that which is never tasted by any other creature before that I should offer ??

I went to the fields to collect some grains and make the bhoga oh Lord .. what can I say now. I realize that the grains were already tasted by brids

I went to the forest to get some flowers which were never touched by anyone.. oh my bad I realized even the flowers were touched by the bees to collect the honey.

What is there now Oh Lord everything is already tasted by someone. I now realize that all have is just my soul which is pure and untouched by anyone.

    Bhaav pradhaan hai .

We should as much as possible keep ourselves and surroundings tidy and prepare food with our own hands and try to offer because we know Our Krishna will have it when we offer food with devotion and love.

fruits needs to be thoroughly washed before offering.  Never get outside food made by some non devotee.  As much as possible avoid it.

    Hare Krishna

  • Hare Krishna! Forgive me but I didn't understand your comment.

I mean No one buys eaten laddu or fruits even for themselves then what to speak of offering to the Lord

    • No i meant that when you buy they (the shopkeeper) will pick up from those from which some has already been sold. And ofcourse eaten.
