Words from Srimad Bhagavatham(1.8.26) purpot- It is said in the śāstras that by once uttering the holy name of the Lord, the sinner gets rid of a quantity of sins that he is unable to commit. Such is the power of uttering the holy name of the Lord. There is not the least exaggeration in this statement.
But now we all might have chanted Lords name so many times. But still our sins are not gone.. Does it mean that we all have accumulated so much huge amount of sins in different lifetimes?

Bhaktin Mata Ji stated that its the quality of utterance. But I think Ajamila's calling Narayana was not for the almighty Krishna but he has been delivered. So even unknowingly calling the names of Krishna removes all sins, so what to say about the quality of the sins.

Yes certainly by chanting the holy name the sins get eradicated ... but not the sinful tendencies.
Because of these sinful tendencies we commit sins again and again. So to remove the sinful tendencies, we have to chant very attentively and follow KC process sincerely.

The quality of uttering varies from heart to heart. There is no doubt if one heart hears a pure vibration of the Holy Name even once then he is liberated.
It is true we have done many, many foolish things but once uttered pure Name will wash it away.
