Should we protect our bhakti ?

Hare Krishna all,

pamho,

All glories to Srila Prabhupada!

After many years of krishna consiousness if someone is about to fall down due to effect of maya does krishna protect him or he should make himself strong to protect himself ? how one can be always be surrendered and escape maya. How insignificant humans can escape strong force of durgadevi in the form of maya. Can we pray to durgadevi to remove her maya from our life, I've heard some prabhu saying in one lecture mayadevi give way to pure devotees to progress in KC is that true?. It would be helpful for many if some devotee give some solution.

When ever you have any doubt about the strength of Maya and her ways and means to trick devotees to fall down, remember the past time of Bharatha maharaj. Bharath Maharaj was on the level of Bhaava just one level down from pure love for Krishna. And then he decided to go to forest giving up all he had. Latter he got attached to the deer in the forest and at the time of death was remembering the deer and not Krishna. Because of this, he had to take 2 more births in the material world before he went back to God head.

Maya attacks on the weakest point always. She first tricked Bharath maharaj that he had to go to Forest to perfect his life and then made him get attached to the deer. Had he been with devotees instead, the devotees would have reminded him of the goal of his life when he would get himself attached to deer. We should always remember one thing, Lord helps those who help themselves.

Having said that, I remembered a story that happened few years ago. There was on devotee who read BG and understood that we have to remember Krishna at the time of death to end the cycle of birth and death. So, he would take his bead bag and chant all the time. He would cross the road without waiting for the signal thinking that if he dies while chanting, he will go back to Krishna. But he was saved all the time. One day he was with other devotees in a lake/river for taking bath and he was carried away by the current. Then he started crying out for help to all he know... except for he remembered Krishna! When he was saved, he latter realized how he did not even remember Krishna once during the whole incident.

Regarding praying to Durgadevi to help you, Srila Prabhupada gives a good analogy. He says, if we visit some persons home where there is a ferocious dog and the dog tries to attack us, No matter what pleasing words we say to dog, the dog will still try to bite us. But, if we call the owner of the house and he sees the dog attacking us, he will say 'Keep quite' for the dog and the dog will just go to its place and sit in the corner without troubling us. In the same way, if we take shelter of Krishna sincerely, then Krishna will tel Maya devi to go away and not to trouble us. But if we are not trying sincerely, then he will also not tel anything to Maya devi.

    Hari bol!!!
