 Hare Krishna 🙏

Dear dovotees, please accept my humble obeisances. I would like to know whether shaving pubic and perianal hair is prohibited. Please include scriptural references or statements from the ācāryas with your answer.

  • No, it is not prohibited. One should always keep oneself clean.

    • Hare Krishna! 🙏

Could you provide scriptural references or statements from ācāryas in support of your comment?

Another thing is that we are never supposed to be completely naked. When shaving those hairs, we would need to be completely naked. Hence, it seems that shaving them is prohibited in this regard.

      • It is common understanding and often quoted cleaniliness is next to godliness. And I have not read or heard such thing one cannot be completely naked when alone. One need to change clothes too, take bath, mating etc

        • That's right. By the way, sorry. I stated part of it incorrectly. In Hari-bhakti-vilāsa, being completely naked while bathing is prohibited. However, I don't know whether being completely naked is also prohibited while changing clothes or during sexual intercourse.

          • I am surprised to read your childish replies. We don't need Hari Bhakti Vilasa to know how to change clothes or do intercourse. How one can do that wihout being naked.

There are so many things in Hari Bhakti Vilasa which we cannot even imagine to follow. Why we take out only 1-2 things. Regarding bathing, in earlier times people used to bathe outside in lakes, or outside wells etc. there were not attached bathroom culture......

so its common sense they should not bathe naked, moreover in oceans, lakes etc there are demigods controlling the same like Samudra devta, Varun dev etc.

            • I'm sorry if I have been bothering you.

Thank you for kind your responses.
