If you want to know something, you must go to authority.
If you want to know who your father is, then the authority is you mother. She knows who your father is.
Once she tells you, so and so is your father, then you accept it and accept that man to be your father.
Same way, Vedic scriptures are authority, whose source is Lord Vishnu/Krishna Himself.
Vedic scriptures reveal knowledge of our Supreme Father Krishna.
Our creator Lord Brahma says, Krishnastu Bhagavanu Swayam..... - Brahma Samhita
Lord Brahma is the authority revealing to us who our Supreme Father is.
