Hare Krishna , I wanna add to this question , All of us who come from India to Gulf come for Laxmi so what ever job one does he has to work as if he is working for Krishna and it is his mercy for who donot know how our destiny takes us .
What if one gets
Option 1 Job in India
Option 2 - Job in Gulf
Option 3 - Donot do any job and surrender to Krishna Full time
I always think i will contribute more from salary to Krishna but some how not able to do moe
Please reply Senior Devotees
Well ultimately its important that one remembers Krishna.
Sometimes our mind tries to fool us by saying "If I earn more, I will do this and that for Krishna"
Remember: its the time that is most important compared to laxmi.
In general, a devotee who gives his time to Krishna is more pleasing than laxmi.
Of course we have to see the practical side of it.
A devotee who is senior and close to us can tell us the best solution.
Hare Krishna.
PAMHO. AGTSP.
This is completely dependent on ones needs. But we should understand that a devotee should never aspire to accumulate more laxmi than required. I was in a class recently in Pune and there the speaker told that Krishna has already allotted the amount of money we can enjoy and the Kind of wife and children we may get. This is fixed and can not be changed much from what is destined. So, too much of endeavor in order to get better in any of these things is useless.
When I finished my MTech, I was working as a lecturer and earning about 17-18 thousand a month but I was very very satisfied as I would get free time in the morning and in the evening for practice KC very well. Latter I got a job in a MNC which offered little more salary than my teaching job. So, I moved to it and which resulted in relocating to Bangalore from Pune. The IT job is very demanding and there is no fixed timings. I was asked to be available to work 24X7X365... This affected on my practice of KC and had to leave practicing it completely for some time. But when you get frustrated in life, we will turn to God and it happened to me also.
The point I want to make here is that it is not important how much we earn but how we live the life of a devotee. From the day I started to work to the present, the salary has doubled but still all is gone at the end of month. What ever we earn, we will learn to live in that much. Satisfaction never comes, it has to be attained with what ever Krishna has allocated to us.
Hari bol!!!
Jai Shri Krishna..
Dear Umesh Prabhuji, you know the answer to your question.. since you have asked to test this aspiring vaishnava, I'll attempt to answer your question.
One has to realise ones position spiritually and to do this there is no better way then to be in the association of sadhus a.k.a. sadhu sanga. Being a Brhamacharya one is able to get self realisation. When one contemplates material things, maya immediately starts to spin her web and one can easily fall from his spiritual progress. As Prabhupad once said, if one is not steady in Brahmanical ways then you should be a Grihasta. A Grihasta has to earn a living and support those that depend on him as well as the sadhus etc. One should not try to earn more then your needs otherwise it will occupy more of your time and spiritual life will go backwards.
I hope I have satisfied your question.. Please feel free to correct me..
HariBol!
Hare Krishna Umesh Modak Prabhu, please accept my humble obeisances! All glories to Srila Prabhupada!
please, forgive me that being unqualified to advice You something, doing so!
The answer from ISKCON desire tree network was perfect!
We do not need money we need Krishna, right?
Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita that He will give what is lack and what one needs.
He knows how much lakshmi You need for Your family and will take care of it in the future also.
The main thing is association and service to Gurudev.
As like an aged fruit lady in Krishna Lila. She gave all her fruits to little Krishna only accepting few grains of rice as a price from the tiny hands of Gopal. But Krishna gave her billion times bigger price at the end.
And as like one great Devotee who used to sell pots made banana leaves and 50 percent of that used to give for the service of Ganga Mata.
We will take as much as much is written in our karma!
Even You might think that it seems You will earn more money working for materialists, but maybe in the form of depressions, fights ... You will spend those money for medicaments and doctors.
In my own example, i graduated from computer science, but i felt bad to serve for materialistic bosses but used my time for Temple service.
But it is also not bad if one is professional and makes his own business as like Srila Prabhupada did and offer fruits to preaching the Holy Names.
But even thou with Devotees
life is like a honey of bumble bees
Both are proper. It depends on the situation. It's best to work full time for ISKCON. However, if one is a householder he may have more responsibilities and in such situation one has to see what is favorable for Krishna consciousness.
Generally, its better to work for Krishna & with devotees and reduce personal requirements to minimum. However, this may not be practical in all the situations and all the times. In that case it may be better to work outside.
One thing is sure - when one works for Krishna, there will be more progress spiritually. However, it does not come cheap. When we work for Krishna, Krishna at once notices it and he loves us more. Out of his causeless mercy, he will want to purify us faster and take us back home back to Godhead in this life itself. Hence, when one dedicates himself more to Krishna, Krishna will put that devotee go thro more difficult situations in order to lovingly purify that devotee.
The success of seva is that one gets bliss in working for Krishna and simultaneously one gets convinced that this material world is a place of misery. One has to pay the price of sacrifice for Krishna - LOVINGLY.
"Krishna I know you are doing this to me purposely. However, I am very weak. Please give me strength to pass this test of yours. Thank you for your LOVE" - this could be one prayer. To be engaged full time like a bramachari in temple is the highest form of sacrifice.
For a grihasta, it is necessary that he is paid so that he can take care of his family's basic needs. When one does not have extra money, its a blessing in disguise. It means less comforts and thus less attachments. Of course one has to fulfill his duty to his family's requirement like house, food, clothing, yatras, education, etc.
To summarize, full time service to Krishna comes with a price - albeit a small one in this world compared to the colossal benefit in the next world. If we love Krishna than we have to sacrifice - which invariably will be something that hurts us most. Like the popular saying - no pain, no gain.
I have answered this question to best of my knowledge. Hope this satisfies your question. It will be interesting to read what other devotees have to share.
