I'm always search for information and knowledge, and i would like to ask all, what is Sandal Chandan/Aastha Gandha? how to use? We can use in Dieties too?

Hare Krishna,

Pls feel free to ask whatever comes to your mind. Sandalwood is called chandan. Ashta gandha means "8 smells". This is made of 8 items (dont know which). Both can be used to serve deities. Esp in a tropical country like India, on 21st April is Akshay Tritiya - this day, in Mayapur, Kolkata and some other temples in ISKCON, the Krsna, Jagannath and Baladev deities are covered completely in chandan paste and decorated to cool Him from the hot sun. For Radharani, the paste is applied only on the forehead. This continues for 21 days.
Otherwise, I use sandalwood paste made in rose water to do abhishek of my deities.
