  • The Skanda Purana warns that no one should buy or sell shalagrama-shilas. One who puts a price on a shalagrama-shilas, sells a shalagrama-shila, gives his opinion on its value, or examines one with a view to estimate its sale value, all such people will live in hell until the time of universal destruction.[6]

  • Saligram puja can not be stopped even on the occasion of death in family. It should not have been purchased because business with Saligram sila is prohibited. It can be passed from one source to another as an inheritance.

  • Hare Krsna Rashmi Mataji,

    Please accept my humble obeisance,

      i know Matajis who have Saligram silas. In the reality it is not mentioned that women cannot worship Him. But it says that person should be second time initiated - Brahmana.

      Which means no onion, garlic, ...no other foods in the mode of ignorance; chanting minimum 16 rounds of Hare Krishna Mantra; strictly following 4 regulative principles;

      Also one should be always regular. No missing any arati, any offering,...

      Because Saligram Sila is a self manifested Deity; When we do offense there will be immediate reaction.

    Hare Krsna mataji,

    PAMHO.

    Saligram puja should ideally be done by the man of the house. Women are normally not allowed to do saligram puja unless the menfolk are travelling. Its easy to do because simply water has to be poured and decorated with tulsi leaves and flowers. Women are normally not allowed to do Saligram puja.

    Regarding onion and garlic, it is not recommended that the person who does this puja eats. Nowadays, most houses, everyone is eating.

    Haribol,

    Your servant,

    Rashmi
