Ever since I watched the movie Sayaara, a question lingered in my heart: What makes this film so special? Why does it touch people so deeply? Why are audiences moved to tears, crying, cheering, and feeling so connected to it?
At first glance, it’s just a beautiful love story — emotional, tender, and human. But as a devotee of Krishna, I couldn’t help but see something more beneath its surface — something divine.
The name of the main lead itself, Krish, became my first clue. For those of us on the path of devotion, Krish immediately echoes Krishna. Of course, I don’t mean the actor is Krishna, but the symbolism spoke volumes to me. It made me reflect on how the Divine works in subtle, mysterious ways...
In the film, the heroine suffers from Alzheimer’s — she forgets her beloved, her story, her very self. And I realized, isn’t that what happens to us too, in this material world? We suffer from a kind of spiritual Alzheimer’s. Covered by the curtain of maya, we forget our true purpose, our real home, and the Supreme Beloved of our hearts — Sri Krishna
But Krishna never forgets us. Just as Krish Kapoor journeys across distances, searching, yearning, and doing everything he can to bring his beloved back, Krishna too constantly reaches out to us. Through His devotees, through His holy names, through every joy and every heartbreak, He whispers to our hearts, “Remember Me.”
And then, there’s that Saiyaara song — the thread that ties the whole story together. To me, it felt like Nama Sankirtan — the call of the Divine Name. When we hear the Maha-mantra, we too become captivated, our hearts moved beyond reason. And in that vibration, Krishna comes closer. He awakens us from our forgetfulness.
Even in our state of “spiritual Alzheimer’s,” when we forget who we truly are, He never gives up on us. He keeps singing His song through time, through lifetimes, through the people and moments that move us.
Perhaps this is why Saiyaara resonates so deeply with so many hearts — because somewhere within, the soul recognizes the truth it reflects: the eternal love between the soul (jiva) and the Supreme Lord (Krishna). Every love story in this world is but a faint reflection of that divine, timeless relationship.
In the end, Sayana reminded me that love — true love — is not about possession or memory, but about recognition. Recognition of that eternal connection that never dies, that keeps finding us, lifetime after lifetime.
Krishna is always searching for us.
And through His song — through Nama Sankirtan — He helps us remember who we truly are.

What you and the film makers have failed to consider is Bhagavad-gita 15.15:
I am seated in the heart and from Me comes memory, knowledge and forgetfulness.
It seems that the heroine in the movie is suffering from a disease of forgetfulness. If Krsna was truly the hero in her life then she could have got cured of alzheimers without the hero having to make any extraneous efforts.
Secondly, I want to ask you how many times can you watch this movie? Abhi ek saal bhi nahi hua movie release hue and nobody is talking about it anymore including those who cried in the theatres and listened to the title song on repeat mode.
Isn't it?

Yes prabhuji,I completely agree with you.
Yet,i wrote it in the hope of viewing Krsna in everything, and one such not so perfect attempt is this
It can be seen as a delusional or even quite unusual. But i sensed nothing wrong in seeing Krsna as one's eternal love who we long to ultimately be united with.
Yes prabhuji,as u said,he resides in everyones heart as paramatma. But i still do believe he makes external efforts (his leela as i call it) to guide one in path of Krsna conciousness.
I myself came into Krsna conciousness because my friend introduced me to it.A lot of devotees have had the same experience.I would definitely call it Krsna's efforts through his dear devotee ,and her introducing me to nama sankirtan
Of course, the paramatma in each and everyone of us is complete, full of memory and knowledge, but dont we need,a spiritual master externally guiding us to appreciate Krsna as paramatma too.
And yes prabhuji,i couldnt watch this movie more than once.I would have listened to the song 2-3 times.I wasnt really keen about the movie myself cause im not a fan of material exchange of love and lust .
And yes nobody talks about it because it's temporary clearly ,a mundane situation however Krsna and His holy name is eternal and brings joy to one eternally
I correlated it with Krsna conciousness because this movie was apparently a huge sensation among the common mass and thought it will be nice to understand why
Thus i made a natural conclusion that its how Krsna is,He never gives up on us just like the protogonist did.Thats exactly is what everyone expects in their fictional love.
Only Krsna lifetime after lifetime inspite of our ignorance and forgetfullness, never gives up on us.
What people love in their Hero,is What Our Krsna does lifetime after lifetime
Of course,No one should/can compare the Holy Namasankirtan with a mere, materialistic song as saiyaara
My sincere apologies if it looks like im comparing this mundane activities with Lord Krsna and His Holy Names
Its not a comparison, its just what i see as a perverted reflection of pure love of Krsna and an explanation of why people felt so connected to it.
Thus I conclude by saying,i wrote this whole thing as an attempt to what humans long for is ultimately Krsna's love but they fail to realise this and are expressing it in fictional movies in their own mundane ways
Thank you

Hare Krishna,
"Krishna is always searching for us"
I don't think so he is not so majnu or romeo to search for us. He is occupying whole brahmanda .. and also sitting internally inside us as Parmatma and watching us daily. He is certainly not missing us :-(
I also read that- isopanishad
oṁ pūrṇam adaḥ pūrṇam idaṁ
pūrṇāt pūrṇam udacyate
pūrṇasya pūrṇam ādāya
pūrṇam evāvaśiṣyate
The Personality of Godhead is perfect and complete, and because He is completely perfect, all emanations from Him, such as this phenomenal world, are perfectly equipped as complete wholes. Whatever is produced of the Complete Whole is also complete in itself. Because He is the Complete Whole, even though so many complete units emanate from Him, He remains the complete balance.
It seems like from this sloka that HE is complete whole. Without me, He is not sad nor crying in sadness. He is not a majnu and dil ka mareez. He is so happy with me or without me also.
>>The Supreme Personality of Godhead is sac-cid-ānanda-vigraha. < dekho isko kahi se bhi rotlu hai kya ye. ye humko miss kaise karega jab ye Sac- cid -ananda -vigraha hai.
adhure log ek doosare ko complete karne ke liye ek doosare ke peeche bhagte hai.
ye Krishna toh poora complete hai. Aur kehta hai ki hum bhi complete hai. kyon ki hum unke creation mein hai.. Unke creation mein unhone koi adhuri cheez nahi banayi.
“He is ever-existing, full of knowledge and bliss.” No sadness, no incompleteness.
Unlike us, He doesn’t chase love to fill a void — because He is the very source of love and joy. ( < dekha movie mein hero atleast sad sad tha na heroine na mili toh.. ye dekho humare kanha ji toh humko miss bhi nahi karne wale huh! )
miss karte toh ab tak rotlu na banke aajate humse milne. ye rotlu faced hero nahi hai humara.
he Infinite Being cannot “search” for anything, because He pervades and possesses everything. ( < < < :-( ye sad bhi nahi hai humare liye)
Śrī Jīva Gosvāmī explains:
Sometimes Samyuktta mata ji, ignorance is bliss.
Hare Krishna prabhuji
It is only great devotees like you who can connect these things to such a devotional philosophy and tell to people us so that we can only understand it.
I definitely agree with your claim as I have also heard that since this world is a perverted reflection of the spiritual world the ACTUAL LOVE (love for krishna) is depicted as lust here, but devotees like you can connect that to krishna in its original svarup.
Thank you for reminding us that this whole world and everything here and us too belong to only Krishna and this emotion of love too is for Radhakrishna
Hare Krsna prabhuji🙏🏻
